Maybe the wolfing out happens for three nights in a row, like on Buffy.

As far as remakes go, I think this one’s not half bad. Am I the only one who just plain doesn’t like the look of Sam Witwer? He does look like he belongs in something for the tweenybopper set.

You are not the only one. His constant lip thing…I don’t know what to call it. It isn’t exactly a pout or a pucker (though he does sort of look like he’s been sucking on a lemon all day or something)…all I know is that it annoys the you-know-what out of me. His demeanor as Aidan just sort of screams “smell the fart acting.”

I’m still trying to cope with the whole remake in general, I guess Russell’s beautiful bum was too much for American television. I’ve got the episode on the back burner while I’m busy with work. I will say that when I found out Sam Witwer would be portraying Mitchell, err, Aidan, I was less displeased with the idea of the US series. Not even counting the fact that he is superdreamy, his performance on Smallville (Season 8) as Davis Bloom/Doomsday and his last episodes on BSG (Season 2 episodes 1-3) tells me he can carry the role. He plays conflicted guy really well.

Okay, I’m lolling at the fact that an emoticon replaces the number there, it’s season eight of Smallville, not season I Wear My Sunglasses At Night.

I was also supremely confused by Bishop taking Aiden to the vampire suite and letting him feed off that girl–at first I thought maybe that was the same girl that Aiden killer? But it definitely didn’t look like her, and I have no idea how “turning” someone else into a vampire works in the BH universe.

I’ve never seen the original, but I liked this ok–it wasn’t astoundingly good, but I’ll probably keep watching for at least a few more episodes to see if I get hooked.

I have very strong feelings about the original Being Human – I’m going to take a cue from Star Trek fandom and abbreviate it BH: TOS – I hope this doesn’t offend. BH: TOS came along at a time when I was missing the dark humor of Buffy and Angel, when Twilight seemed to have conquered the world, and aside from Dr. Who, my television viewing experience was rather dismal. But lo! BH:TOS came along, and I became wholeheartedly invested in Mitchell, George, and Annie.

When SyFy announced that it would make an American version, my initial instinct was to rail against it. I didn’t want to see my beloved show sanitized or…defanged…in any way. I didn’t want a poor imitation of a good British show (see: Coupling). I didn’t think it could be done. After careful consideration, however, I abandoned my knee jerk hatred of SyFy’s decision and decided to give its Being Human a chance…one single episode of a chance.

So I watched Being Human last night. While I wasn’t overwhelmingly impressed, I didn’t hate it, either. It was…tolerable…not bad…and even interesting. I have to admit that I want to know what’s going to happen with Josh and Emily and what direction, if any, may be planned for her character. I felt that George/Josh was the best straight-up character translation, and Mark Pellegrino was great, as well. Sam Witwer seems to be too square jawed and potentially heroic – more like a weird Angel/Edward Cullen combo than Mitchell. As you said, he’s missing something, and maybe we’ll find some of that history and depth of character in the near future.

I’ll be taking it one episode at a time.
