Middlemarch Voting Round 2, Day 3

Tonight we’ll decide the final four ladies who are moving on to the Sweet Sixteen, and it looks like it’s going to be another tough vote.  Last night, we again beat our top number of voters, so I’m tickled that there are more and more of you coming out to support your favorite fictional ladies.

Without further ado…

The Winners

In YA Fantasy/Sci-fi/Dystopia, Katniss Everdeen (61%) overcomes Gaiman girl Coraline (39%).

In YA Fiction, Jessica “not so” Darling (74%) sweeps past Emily Byrd Starr (26%).

In Adult Fantasy/Sci-fi/Dystopia, unflappable Esmerelda Weatherwax (72%) easily defeats Karin Murphy (28%).

In Adult Fiction, in what I consider an upset, Lady Macbeth (57%) out, out damned spots Portia (43%).

  1. Listen, I love Alanna The Lioness as much as the next girl, but Meg Murray hated her principal, got into bloody fistfights over her brother’s reputation, and was too good at math for her own good. I love every single thing about her. She is the one character I want every girl growing up to meet–hers is the one of the only books I recommend to every single person. Alanna is kick-ass and stubborn and awesome, but Meg is too–and she does it with braces and frizzy hair and a chip on her shoulder.

    Vote Meg!
