LTP: 11/17/11

It’s finally Thursday, we’re getting through this work week like bosses, Persephoneers. How about a little lunchtime poll to make the afternoon go faster?

Today I’d like to know if you’re a road tripper, and if so, what was your favorite road trip experience?

  1. I’ve road tripped a few times that were quite long, but the trip itself wasn’t the purpose–just a cheaper way to get somewhere. I don’t really mind it if I don’t have to drive. When my fellow students and I drove 11 hours to go to a conference it turned out to be pretty enjoyable because we all had to stop at similar times and we had two cars in a caravan and we got to get to know each other in a non-school context, which was really pleasant actually.

  2. When my husband and I were dating, our very first vacation was a week long tour of Washington State. We traveled the peninsula, the coast, the mountains, and the desert. It was by far the most fun I’d ever had on a vacation. I even usually forget that my house got broke into while we were gone!

  3. Our honeymoon was an awesome road trip. We drove to Canandaigua in the Finger Lakes area for a long weekend. On the way, we stopped and spent a few hours at the Strong Museum of Play, which was loads of fun. And then we spent the weekend eating and drinking. (We had a couples’ cooking class at the culinary institute, and tickets for a wine and chocolate tasting tour of the wineries surrounding Seneca Lake.) There was snowshoeing and ice skating and snowman building and other awesome, and then we drove home and stopped at this delicious steakhouse on the way, where we shared a giant (GIANT) s’more thing for dessert, and then we went to see Unstoppable at a $2 movie theater we passed. It was a pretty awesome road trip.

Coincidentally, today is my anniversary and I was thinking about it. Sometimes I swear you guys are mind readers!!!

(This is the giant s’more in question.)
