It turns out that this song was out three years ago, which is just further proof that Luci is completely out of touch with current music. Do you all like music from another country or language that is not your own? I have a soft spot for French pop, obviously. What about you?

i love yelle, and back in the day when i worked as a social worker (ok a few months ago), i had a really amazing experience set to this very song.
i worked with a bunch of blind folks. once a month, the day treatment program would have a “cultural day.” this particular cultural day was france, and i was in charge of bringing music. i went through all the eras and ended with this yelle song. within 30 seconds the entire room was full of elderly, blind people swinging their canes (dangerous, i know) and dancing their asses off. it was one of the most beautiful moments of my life.
I had two bottles of beer yesterday about 8pm. It’s nearly 21 hours later and I STILL have a headache.
WHY do you hate SMALL AMOUNTS of DELICIOUS BEER, BODY, WHY?
My body does this too. One beer could be all the alcohol I consume for the evening, but I will have an upset stomach the next day. On the other hand I could drink vodka, rum, or whiskey until I am stupid and have zero hangovers. I manage, as there are only a few select beers I like, but still, very disappointing, body.
That happened to one of my suitemates, then it turned out her tummy couldn’t handle gluten. I have no idea if it causes hangovers, but maybe explains the tummy upsets?
I get digestive issues if I drink too much, especially beer, but I’ve never given much thought to that, alcohol being a drug and all:) The headache with that amount, though, is new and unfun.
I don’t think that is’s gluten, because bread and I are BFFs, but it has to be something that’s in beer, but not other alcohols, because I am not particularly prone to hangovers with anything else.
Have to go to a quarterly state-of-the-union-type meeting . . . do not want . . . trying to figure out if I can read Persephone from my crappy Windows phone discretely. What is the risk in someone having posted something really funny and me not being able to stifle a giggle?
I promise not to be too funny today, just for you. :)
(And hopefully you’re not like me, insofar that the above statement made me burst into giggles)
Am I correct in missing the Writing Challenge posts? I need something to whoop my ass into creating.
I haven’t seen any! I’ve been missing them, too.
Glad I am not the only one to miss it. I went looking for it on Sunday so I could have something to do :(
I know I am going to have a cranky day when my assistant walks in and comments on the flower pot we’re going to plant today: “That’s a beutiful flower pot!” and I want to say “No, it’s an ugly ass pot.” just to be contrary.
(In all fairness, I don’t like it that much, but it’s not ugly either)
Aww, that’s no good.
Do you know if there’s any way you can talk about your morning-needs with your assistant?
I did. I phrased it as, “I’m sorry if I’ve been curt in the mornings. As you know, I am not a morning person and since I’ve been getting less sleep lately I really need the mornings to just gear up for the day.”
If she decides to keep trying to chat with me and I snap at her, well, she’s been warned.
(and I just want to reiterate that she is the nicest lady, and I have no problem chatting later in the day. Just let me have my mornings)
I’m all set to be productive today! After this post!
(I’ve been incredibly sluggish and useless lately, it’s a real struggle to cope with work. Fingers crossed for getting to start thyroid replacement therapy in a few weeks, and for it making some difference.)
As for BGM, I love this song lately. It’s a new cover of 80s Sovietpop. And I still can’t embed video!

I know it’s in a few weeks, but good luck with the surgery; I hope it helps.
Okay next time I’m going to clean my nails I’m going to do it outside. Is nail polish remover supposed to cause a headache? Geesh Louis.
I’m starting a multi-day Women in Leadership workshop today. Coming from a lab where I am the only female, I’m a little nervous, but also really kind of excited to hang out with WOMEN for a few days and (hopefully) talk about all kinds of awesome stuff. Woop!
This sounds really cool! And I am jealous.
That sounds really exciting! Tell us how it goes! :)
Ok some of the spam comments in the stream make me laugh so hard. Per example:
That’s a worthwhile tip right there.
I hate when I can odor people.
Me, I’m still working on having my attire concert off my assets.
Pfft, I think they underestimate how much odoring someone can lend to the procurement of romantic getaways! I know I always odor someone I’m interested in.
Me and my friends always try to odor before flirting alongside each other.
As I was walking across campus to get to my office this morning I passed a college-age guy going the opposite direction. Three steps after passing him I hit the invisible Axe body spray wall and did the cough-sputter-wave-my-hand-in-front-of-my-face thing. I guess I could describe that as odoring someone . . .
The lady in front of me in the coffee line this morning was ordoring. I had to cover my nose to avoid allergies.
Have you ever had a night where you knew you shouldn’t be alone, but you don’t have anyone you can call to come be with you to keep you from going crazy? Cause I’m having one of those nights. Hell, I’ve been trying to put off one of those nights for almost a month now; it was bound to catch up with me sooner or later. blegh.
Aww, I’m sorry. :( I know it’s after the night, but I’ll still offer hugs if you want them.
Thanks, I appreciate it. :)
Oh no! I was not sleeping then, otherwise I would have done my very best to say something inappropriate and cheery. Have hugs anyway, and if there’s a next time, you get something doubly inappropriate and cheery!
Hah thanks. Inappropriate and cheery is always good. :)
I like listening to J-rock and J-pop, mostly because the amount of anime I’ve watched. I really like Hiro Takahashi. Something about his voice makes me happy. I also like the band Plastic Tree and k-pop artist Jay Park.
J-Pop is like crack.
It really is!
I had an amazing day. I got a promotion and a raise. Almost all my Skittles were red (my favorite), which never happens to me, ever. Due to a fire drill, my coworker and I were able to leave work early. Since I left work early, I arrived home just as my boyfriend was pulling out of the driveway to go to the gym. So instead of going to the gym, we went for a hike/trail run together under these gigantic cumulus clouds. I saw a deer squatting to pee, which was really hilarious for some reason. Everything lined up perfectly. I hope this wasn’t obnoxious, but I usually have a hard time being positive about things and today really put me in a different frame of mind. Hope everyone else had a good Wednesday. And if not, at least we’re over half way there.
That sounds like an amazing day. Thank you for sharing:)
Yay promotion and raise!
Ha! I totally admit I laughed so hard the first time I saw a deer squat to pee. Why must all the lady-animals squat??
I had no idea they did that! For some reason, I figured they just stood and let loose like a horse.
Did you buy a lottery ticket? Your day sounds amazing.
That sounds so awesome! Don’t feel bad about talking about it; positive things are good!
That made me smile so big!
Aw, you all are awesome. I love the Perseph community.
I have a whole playlist on my itunes entitled French Tst. Its full of French pop songs. And I really like French covers of well known songs for some reason. Here are some of my favorites:
Runnaway- Plastiscines
Blister In the Sun- Nouvelle Vague
Comme des enfants – Cœur de pirate
Marie douceur, Marie colère (paint it black) 2- Marie Laforêt
Sympathique -Pink Martini
Ça plane pour moi- Plastic Bertrand
Fille atomique- Nous Non Plus
Moi je joue – Brigitte Bardot
Petite Pute – Austine
Je Ne Te Connais Pas – Prototypes
Bitch – Plastiscines
Ange et démon – Robert
Snrk.
Basically.
Ahhhhh I love that song it used to come up on my Pandora all the time. I’ve been listening to ‘Glad You Came’ by the Wanted on near-repeat. I’m a little embarrassed, but the bald guy is stupidly cute.
I love reggaeton, latin, samba, and west African music. It never fails to make me dance. Also, Manu Chao is one of my favorite artist. “Rumba de Barcelona” never fails to get me ready for a night out.
Blarg. Embedding fail. Looks like I’ll just need to get back to dancing.
Fixed! You don’t need the embedding code, just the link itself and it should auto-embed.
I can tell I’m stressed, because I saw a book I’ve been wanting that was on-sale (The Principles of Psychology by William James) and I immediately bought it.
I’m really glad I’m finally going to get a copy of it…but I prolly shouldn’t have done that.
I wish I was at a place where I could do something for myself every once and a while and not feel guilty about spending the money. Sigh.
I impulse buy things too. Usually when I feel particularly depressed about life. Last time, I bought myself a really pretty necklace from etsy that I’d had my eye on for awhile.
At least I can justify it based on the idea that I’ve wanted this for over a year (and didn’t let myself buy it even though I could get it for around $30…), and having it will be beneficial for my studies, because I love that book so goddamn much!
What was the necklace of?
That was like a delightful mixture of J-pop, 80s electronica, and indie Brooklyn, all sung in French. I’m gonna have to look this chick up.
For realz, though, most French pop sucks. :(
