the state of the news makes me sad…
I am conflicted.
Random sidebar: one of the ads to the right on my screen is for Asian wives. Really? Is that some awesome keyword searching on my end or by filtering keywords on the page? I’m aaaalmost tempted to click on it, but I’m sure I would just be horrified/saddened by the website it takes me to.
I’ve got adds for electrical components (related to my job) and for car insurance, so I’m thinking they are trying to figure it out from the reverse add whatsit stuff.
Hilariously, I’m getting ads for the broadband company I’m using to view the ads. I think their ad is wasted on me.
Ooo, and now a baby clothes ad. WHAT ARE THEY IMPLYING?
I get lots of “Learn to code! Get your CS degree online!” I try not to take them personally. Currently I have an ad for a hosting company (ha!) and one for improving my credit score.
I have almost zero control over the ads. I can opt out of some categories in Google, but our other ad server is through Lijit, and they don’t let me filter anything. Google Ads are set up not to display weight loss, snake oil, pervy or offensive ads, for the most part. (Thank SallyJ for figuring out how to do that.)
Well then geez- what have I been entering into my search bar that gets me Asian wives?? Of course this time it’s an ad for Christian singles. So wrong on two counts, but obviously I need to search for more awesome things on the googles.
