Lunchtime Poll: Goin’ Places

If you were told that tomorrow you got exactly two weeks off of work (paid, of course), a free ticket anywhere in the world, and money for travel expenses, where would you go and why?

I think I’d go to India. Ideally, I’d like to spend more than two weeks whenever I get the chance to visit such a large and diverse country, but tickets there are expensive, so I’d jump at the opportunity to fly for free.

Where would you go?

Jordan. Kick-ass history, archaeology, activities and sights in a small, tw0-week-sized package.

Only two weeks? a. Rome. I’d rent an apartment and learn to navigate Rome. I’ve never been there but maybe two weeks in Rome is too short. b. Venice is smaller (have been there) and definitely more manageable for two weeks for a more detailed examination of the place. Roof top apartment, go visit every church in the city etc. or c. London, can go out to theater every night for two weeks, there’s art, there’s lots of good restaurants these days too…but I couldn’t speak Italian there. Tough choice. If you said three weeks, I’d say Rome.

I’d take a stack of (or a Kindle full of) books and ride the train all over the U.S., visiting all my scattered friends and getting to know their cities.

I would go to Palau so that I could swim in Jellyfish Lake or maybe Bali, Indonesia because I’ve never been. Or maybe I’d go back to India? Can I go everywhere?

A New York trip to Washington? I could give both of them a week and enjoy US trains. If there’s a train. Else it’d be a road trip. But only because I already have plans for Oz/NZ.

I’d go to Japan, and I’d find a way to take the BF with me. He took Japanese for something like 8 years and he’s always wanted to go, but he never got the chance. I’d love to do that for him, and to be there with him when he got to do it. I’m sure it’d be a blast!

Italy. I think 2 weeks would be enough to see Rome, Venice, and Florence. I’d have to see Pompeii. And if there was time, I’d go to Sicily to see where my family is from. I hear the beaches are divine!

Oo, I’m not sure where I would go for sure. However I’m super lucky and get to go on a trip to New Zealand, into Auckland, with my mum this FRIDAY! I’m super excited, or at least trying to be despite the waves of jealousy and “I’m going to missss youuu” I keep getting from my partner. And yes, I will be visiting Hobbiton!
