Because there’s always room on my TV schedule for a fun summer show, last week I decided to tune into NBC’s new Hollywood Game Night, hosted by the always entertaining Jane Lynch.
The show, which premiered a few weeks ago, puts two teams against each other for a chance to win $25,000. The teams are comprised of celebrities and a lone regular person looking to win $25,000. The teams compete against each other in pop culture games, like guessing which song is being hummed by a teammate. It’s fast moving and Jane makes sure to keep things entertaining, so it wasn’t hard to watch as I finished some work up at home.
The celebrities are actually people I have heard of (my episode – and each week it changes – featured Valerie Bertinelli, Sarah Chalke, Matthew Morrison), which makes sense – bigger names will attract more viewers. All of the stars gave it their all throughout the show, which I also appreciated – you know that they really wanted their teammate to win.
While I was watching, I started thinking about who I would like on my team if I was ever on Hollywood Game Night (not that it matters, because they don’t let you choose and I’m not planning on applying). I would definitely want all of my bases covered, and have music, television and movie stars represented. I’d also have to make sure that they were up to date on their pop culture references, and quick on their feet. So, I think Tina Fey and Amy Poehler would be obvious choices. Kathy Griffin could hold her own, and so could Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert. If I was ever together with all of these people, I think I’d be so in awe of my super team that I wouldn’t even be able to play any of the games.
If you could put together a game night team, who would you choose?
