This Open Thread Screams for Ice Cream

You know what sucks about moving away from the city? No more ice cream trucks in the summer!

There used to be one that stopped right next to the playground I took the kiddo to in Queens, and before that, there were usually at least two parked within a couple blocks of my old job. Sure, the song was annoying, but traveling ice cream was a freaking brilliant idea. I miss them, to the point that I’ve been thinking about asking for a soft-serve maker for my birthday next month.

(I don’t know why that exists, but I was pretty confident that it would. I really don’t know why it’s been watched more than 286,000 times. People are sadistic bastards.)

How much do you hate me right now for putting the song in your head? Sound off in the comments below, or just tell me how your week’s going.

She once read large swaths of "Why Evolution is True" and a geology book aloud to her infant daughter, in the hopes of a) instilling a love of science in her from a very young age and b) boring her to sleep. After escaping the wilds of Waco, Texas and spending the next decade in NYC, she currently lives in upstate New York, where she misses being able to get decent pizza and Chinese takeout delivered to her house. She lost on Jeopardy.

      1. The debate continued til 5am – session is now adjourned til 4pm today. Once it passes the Dáil it still has to go through the Senate.

It’s only to pass X-case legislation i.e.: legalising abortion where a woman’s life (not her health) is at risk, including suicide risk, as a result of a 21-year-old Supreme Court judgment and pressure from the European Court of Human Rights.
