Because Persephoneers are indeed both bookish and clever, offering a literary prize for our birthday is one of the best things we can offer our readers. In addition to our other giveaways throughout today, including fanfic and a novel, this time we’re talking poetry.
After a youth spent in Baghdad and an education spanning the world, Saif Alsaegh’s forthcoming poetry collection, Iraqi Headaches, explores both ennui and his place in the world.
Nouveau Nostalgia, a small press based out of Great Falls, MT, will publish Saif’s book on December 16th. (Full Disclosure: I’m an editor for Nouveau Nostalgia.)
Iraqi Headaches features poems primarily in English, with some poems written in both Arabic and English. Until November 11, Nouveau Nostalgia is running an Indiegogo campaign for printing and book tour costs, so even if you do not win here today, you can still pre-order the book and support the project.
Watch the video, and if you’d like to win a copy of the book — delivered as soon as it is available — please comment and answer the following question: Do you have a favorite poet?
