This Weekend Open Thread is Coming in Like a Lion

February’s over, hooray! There’s another giant snowstorm coming tomorrow… fuck. Let’s cuddle up here and keep each other warm.

Gif from Frozen of Olaf (a snowman) saying, "I don't know why but I've always loved the idea of summer."
Me too, Olaf.

The local garden show is going on this weekend, so I’m going to go look at flowers and pretend that at some point the snow in the garden will melt away so I can actually plant some. What are you up to?

Hillary is a giant nerd and former Mathlete. She once read large swaths of "Why Evolution is True" and a geology book aloud to her infant daughter, in the hopes of a) instilling a love of science in her from a very young age and b) boring her to sleep. After escaping the wilds of Waco, Texas and spending the next decade in NYC, she currently lives in upstate New York, where she misses being able to get decent pizza and Chinese takeout delivered to her house. She lost on Jeopardy.

  1. Good news: The storm may stay south of us, so instead of the 18″ they were talking about a few days ago, we may get less than an inch!

Bizarre news: This is the Hudson River about 25 miles from my house. Completely covered in ice! With lots of grumpy ducks and sea gulls trying to find patches of open water (or just hitching a ride downriver).

  2. It was 60 in southern Indiana today so Daisy and I took an hour long walk at the park. And there were other dogs and she didn’t bark at them! Even when within thirty feet! Six months ago, she would have had me in years with her behavior. Progress! Spring! Renewal! Cleaning the bathroom! (So, bye.)

    1. Yay Daisy and hard-working human! My boy’s behavior has had me in the tears place to, and we’ve also had those times when I can see how much better he’s doing, so I know EXACTLY how you feel! Best feeling in the world :)

      1. Definitely a feeling that only dog owners with special dogs get.
Me: “Oh, look at my little psychopath! She’s doing so good!”
Owners of normal dogs: “You’re 30 feet off the walking path…”
        Me: “Isn’t it GREAT!?”
