Lunchtime Poll: What’s Your New Year’s Resolution?

Or have you already broken all the ones you planned to do?

Mine thus far are to find a job, find more time to write, do a crochet-along (still wavering between a couple different ones), cut back on my root beer consumption, and generally to get through a bunch of personal shit without losing my mind. Also, this:

Hillary is a giant nerd and former Mathlete. She once read large swaths of "Why Evolution is True" and a geology book aloud to her infant daughter, in the hopes of a) instilling a love of science in her from a very young age and b) boring her to sleep. After escaping the wilds of Waco, Texas and spending the next decade in NYC, she currently lives in upstate New York, where she misses being able to get decent pizza and Chinese takeout delivered to her house. She lost on Jeopardy.

  1. My resolutions/commitments to this new year:

    – Get to bed a decent time. I was doing not bad with last year’s resolution to get to bed by midnight, but lately bedtime has gone quite drastically to hell. (I’m sure you’re very nice, 3am, I just don’t particularly want to be that well acquainted with you.)

    – Change my homepage! Seriously, I’ve always had as my homepage, and as part of wanting to think more positively and happily, I’ve made Pinterest my homepage.

    – See aforementioned resolution! I made a Pinterest board for “New Year Inspiration”. It has all sorts in it, but essentially it’s a positive thinking board with things ranging from body-positivity, to lovely (and manageable!) craft ideas, recipes I want to try, and, um, pictures of David Tennant, among others. It’s already made a difference for Pinterest to be the first site I see when I log on.

    – Being more active, in terms of taking Little Juniper swimming every week and going for walks simply to walk rather than to “do” something or finding little reasons for walks, rather than bigger errands. I also want to make a big push towards, if not scheduling specific time, a reasonable frequency for practicing yoga.
