I don't have money for private school but could possibly get financial aid. There is this amazing private school in the area that is all about sustainable living, which is integrated into the curriculum. They grow food, make it, learn about the environment, etc. Sounds amazing. I just wonder what the ups or downs would be for a very sociable kid to study in a small school as opposed to the larger public school.

We've got the Baby Owners Manual, and a good friend has recommended the Baby Wise books. I haven't changed a diaper in probably 20 years and have no idea how to swaddle, how warm you're supposed to make a bottle, how often you should bathe the baby, etc., etc. So, I'm looking for useful advice and instruction that will help me stop freaking out. Thanks!

His big news is that he got invited to the Valentines dance by two girls. It was fantastic news according to him, which soon turned to debilitating stress of having to reject one, accept one, and dance with her. It's silly because everyone comes with parents and dances in a big group. But it seems like their way of playing out their crushes.

So he asked me last night how he should deal with the girl that likes him and is always on him and he wants her to know he isn't interested but he doesn't want to be mean. Oddly, I was mostly just thrilled he was willing to come to me with girl issues.

He loves everything he does and does it with gusto. I am proud to be his mom, yet 'mom' is not first on my list of self-identifiers. My partner and I are talking about having another kid and I'm torn- afraid of being responsible for two beings who can run in different directions! Nervous about returning to the diaper stage of life and further delaying whatever grownup career I think I ought to have, etc etc...I am one of three girls and can't imagine growing up a single child. Anyways, I'm glad to have found this forum!
