Mine is a Wai Lana that I got for a whopping $10 at TJ Maxx. I don’t have too much trouble with slipping except for the fact that I get really sweaty. And no matter which yoga towel I try, they just don’t work for me – they make it MORE slippery! So I just have to constantly wipe my face to stop the dripping.

Heh. Wheatgrass shots. I almost snorted water.

It definitely is comforting to know that I’m not the only person who analyzes my every move and worries that I’m going to look like a weirdo who’s hitting on […]

I feel like my closest friends have been made over the internet. It takes me some time before I feel comfortable with people in a social setting. Even in my 30’s, I can’t get over feeling like an awkward teenager […]

  • My mom had this ceramic Santa Claus – it was probably about 2 feet tall or so – and she would put it out every Christmas (duh). One year, my brother was chasing me around the house and I bumped into Santa. It fell […]

Yeah, I got out last night and did a pretty vigorous class (which I sort of regretted, given how sore my shoulders were!) but I know it’s for the best. The further I get away from the hot class though, the less awful it seems. I did feel great when I left and I just need to stop worrying about what other people are doing because I’m not at that…[Read more]

I tried my first hot yoga class this weekend and I have to say, it didn’t go very well. It was a much faster pace than I anticipated and since I’m still fairly new to yoga, I had a really hard time keeping up. At one point, I felt myself getting frustrated to the point of tears so I just dropped down to child’s pose until I could compose myself.…[Read more]

    • I hated my first hot class. I thought it was cruel and awful. But then I felt really great afterward (when it was done and the teacher stopped talking). Sore is pretty normal; if you’re not keen on doing another hot class I’d really recommend doing another yoga class soon (any kind) to get your body moving, or any exercise really. A hot epsom salt…[Read more]

I haven’t tried Bikram yet because it frightens me. I get so sweaty in a regular class, I shudder to think of what would happen in a heated room! I feel like I can’t go wrong with a good Hatha class, too.

The sweat was the least of my problems with Bikram, I just got very very dizzy. Spending the whole class in savasana wasn’t really worth it:)

      • @QoB – I’m always a little sad when I hear people don’t like Bikram (though I totally get it) but I have to say some of the Iyengar teachers I’ve had are so freaking good at what they do. Their training is really rigorous and those ladies (and dudes I’m sure too) know what they are doing. I found it to be a little bit too slow for my taste but I…[Read more]

I like it because it’s very precise, there are plenty of variations offered, but it’s all challenging.
Which reminds me I should really go to a class soon…

    • The nice thing about Bikram and other hot classes is you are supposed to sweat. It’s the normal thing and no one thinks twice about it. Well maybe new people do, I dunno. But I can deliver the sweat. There’s a studio in Vancouver that’s super humid (it’s practically raining in there) and I literally had sweat pour off my mat when I finished class.…[Read more]
