For years now, I have barely listened to music. Had anybody suggested such a thing to me when I was 20, I would have yelled “But music is my life!” and considered swearing at them, but things changed. I had kids. They are loud. I longed for moments of complete silence. I started working for a music magazine and had to review random things that, for the most part, I didn’t enjoy. Much like 1995, 1996 is one of my favorite years to write about in this series. It holds a special place in my heart as the year that my music taste began to come into its own, and so much of what I listen to then, I still listen to quite often today. Maybe I’m a hopeless dino at times, but that’s all right. I know what I like, I am unapologetic about those likes, and that’s all one can ask for. Let’s get into it, shall we?
