2012 is very recent history, yes, but let’s pretend that this installment of 30 Years of Music is better than all the “Best Of” posts you saw last December and January. We’ve got indie hip-hop, dance party gems, and worry not, a fair amount of guitar too.
My favorite releases for 2006 seem to alternate between the All-Time Favorites I am constantly trying to shove into your hands, and the lovely gems that I keep meaning to own”¦ after which I will then metaphorically foist upon you like the rest. Let’s get to it!
When I was little, this godawful TV show called Hee Haw (don’t look it up on YouTube; spare yourself) droned in the background as we visited my grandparents. I associated country music with unfunny comedy skits, and mostly, I hated it. At home, we listened to good things, like classic rock.
