“It tastes just like the real thing!” and other lies found on Pinterest

As I was scrolling through my Pinterest feed this morning, I came across a recipe for pancakes that uses only three ingredients: bananas, eggs, and cinnamon. And if you’re feeling daring, you can add a splash of vanilla extract. All of the pictures attached were fluffy, light, normal-looking pancakes like you’d get at our local diner.  Read More “It tastes just like the real thing!” and other lies found on Pinterest

Five Playlists that Are Getting Me Through this Week

It’s going to be a very long week, since I’m very busy both at home and at work.  Luckily, I have some playlists at 8tracks.com all set to go.  I’ve been listening to these both while working and writing, so I’ll share then with you in case you need the musical motivation. Ladyguide: Managing Your Freelance Career With Google Calendar

When the economy went to hell, many of us resorted to selling our skills on the open market. Freelancing is fodder for plenty of posts, but today we’re going to talk about time management.  Read More Ladyguide: Managing Your Freelance Career With Google Calendar

Women in Academia: Making Every Second Count

There are some people who seem like they get 25 hours out of every day, even without the aid of magic (suck on that, Granger!). Finding a Routine When You’ve Lost Yours: Help Wanted

For the past three weeks, I’ve wandered aimlessly, making a vain effort to get everything done that I’m supposed to. I need structure.  Read More Finding a Routine When You’ve Lost Yours: Help Wanted

Lunchtime Poll: Productivity and Three-Day Weekends

I’m coming down off a three day weekend today, and I’d say that’s a bummer, but I’m still too psyched about all the stuff I accomplished with my extra day off. I planned out our week’s meals, did the grocery shopping, cleaned our entire house top to bottom, reorganized all of my books and DVDs, the dog got bathed and nails trimmed, we tried a new soup recipe, and I watched like a season and a half of Community.

Lunchtime Poll 11/17

It’s hump day, so let’s make this an easy one, shall we?  For today’s lunchtime poll, I want to know your favorite places to completely waste time on the internets.   Nothing that makes you smarter or increases your productivity, sites where you go when you just want to pass time.  Personally, I have a secret passion for paperdoll sites, where I can somehow be entertained for hours by changing the .gif boots on a 2D celebrity.
