Right now, the best hope for any solution to the Congressional stalemates over both the government shutdown and the debt ceiling seems to be a bipartisan effort spearheaded by Susan Collins and involving several other senators, mostly women. Happy Friday, everyone. Perhaps the biggest news story this week is that of the U.S. government shutdown, in which all but “essential” employees are not working (or being paid) until further notice. Hopefully this does not make life difficult for too many of you reading, and if it does, we send our utmost sympathies.
Even though it sounds melodramatic, I feel like sometimes we are living life under siege.
