Happy Friday, everyone. We’re catching up on two weeks’ worth of news stories today, so let’s get started, and you can get a nice, shiny sense of somewhat informed accomplishment.
I’m trying to get better about how I consume media. There are enough movies and TV options being churned out that those alone can take entire lifetimes to fill. Since I have a commute that is over an hour long, I try to look for new music and/or podcasts to fill this time but then instead, I listen to music I downloaded in college because that’s what you do.
Internet podcast sensation Welcome to Night Vale‘s second season finale (and two year anniversary) is July 1, 2014 (well, Part A dropped June 15th; Part B will drop the first). I’m not obsessed with Night Vale, I just love it with every fiber of my being. It makes me laugh and cry, but also gives me strength. And so, dear readers, I’d like to share ten episodes with you that you can listen to in anticipation of the season finale.
I jumped on the Welcome to Night Vale bandwagon last year, after it exploded on Tumblr. And the first few episodes were good and clever and creepy and fun. As someone who uses public transportation, I enjoyed singing “The Bus is Late,” featured on “The Weather” segment from Episode 2. And then Episode 12, “The Candidate,” changed my life.
