Happy weekend. Let’s talk Netflix.
Fasten your seatbelts and make sure your tray tables are in a locked and upright position. We’re taking off on an Air Force One-based adventure for this week’s The West Wing, and we get to enjoy some grade-A aeronautic set porn. Continue reading Ladyghosts: TWW 2.07 “The Portland Trip”
At nearly any other point in my life, in the month of June, I would be on break from school and starting one of my summer camp jobs. This summer, however, I’ve been working full time and also going to grad school. Here are some of the things I’ve learned, for the “What I Did on My Summer Vacation” essay I will never have to write: Continue reading What I Learned Over My Summer Vacation
This episode opens with the lone surviving gunman being skinheady at a diner, with the news of Joshua Lyman’s injuries on the news (see Selena’s recap of 2.1 to be brought up to speed). This is one of my most favorite episodes ever, because it gives so much of the back story about the senior staff. Continue reading LadyGhosts of TV Past: 2.2, “In the Shadow of Two Gunmen, Part 2″
There are a handful of The West Wing episodes that have stuck with me through the years. “Two Cathedrals,” “In Excelsis Deo,” and “In the Shadow of Two Gunmen” are the biggest ones, and probably among the favorites of most TWW fans. “Take This Sabbath Day” is a quieter episode than any of those three, and it’s the subtlety of this episode that makes it pack as much of a punch. Continue reading Ladyghosts: The West Wing 1.14 “Take This Sabbath Day”
This episode opens with CJ holding her press briefing, with some good ribbing for Danny. This briefing brings to light one of the episode’s storylines – the invitation to Lydells, the parents of a boy who was brutally murdered for being gay. Toe Pick mentions to CJ that the parents didn’t seem to be very supportive of the president, and CJ is ready to throttle her right there. Continue reading LadyGhosts of TV Past: The West Wing 1.13, “Take out the Trash Day”
Good afternoon, Persephoneers! It’s my turn to talk about The West Wing, and this episode is a doozy. Season one of The West Wing was able to achieve a near-perfect balance between plot, character development and larger themes, and “He Shall From Time to Time” is one of the better examples of this strength. Continue reading Ladyghosts: The West Wing 1.12 “He Shall From Time to Time”
I’m stepping in as an emergency replacement for Sandra, so no putting tacks on the sub’s chair while she’s gone. This afternoon we’re going to be discussing the seventh episode of the first season, The State Dinner. In this ep, we’ll meet one of my favorite long-term characters for the first time: Abby Bartlet. Continue reading Ladyghosts: The West Wing S1, Ep7; The State Dinner
