Ladyghosts: The West Wing 1.14 “Take This Sabbath Day”

There are a handful of The West Wing episodes that have stuck with me through the years.  “Two Cathedrals,” “In Excelsis Deo,” and “In the Shadow of Two Gunmen” are the biggest ones, and probably among the favorites of most TWW fans.  “Take This Sabbath Day” is a quieter episode than any of those three,  and it’s the subtlety of this episode that makes it pack as much of a punch. LadyGhosts of TV Past: The West Wing 1.13, “Take out the Trash Day”

This episode opens with CJ holding her press briefing, with some good ribbing for Danny. This briefing brings to light one of the episode’s storylines – the invitation to Lydells, the parents of a boy who was brutally murdered for being gay. Toe Pick mentions to CJ that the parents didn’t seem to be very supportive of the president, and CJ is ready to throttle her right there. Continue reading

Ladyghosts: The West Wing, Season 1, Episode 3

Previously, on the West Wing, President Bartlet’s personal physician, Captain Morris Tolliver, was killed when his plane was shot down on the way to a humanitarian mission at a teaching hospital.  The President is out for some old school eye-for-an-eye justice to retaliate.  Also, the unfortunate Mandy has been hired to be the Director of New Media. A note on my screencaps – the video on my copy of this particular episode was really crappy.  So I played with stuff in photoshop.  Some results are better than others. Moving on. Continue reading
