We’re Back!

After a rather adventuresome series of events, Persephone Magazine is back.  We’re on a brand new server and we found ourselves this shiny new outfit to wear.  The site is chock full of improvements and upgrades and changes, oh my.  Later today (around 3) we’ll have a detailed post explaining everything, with pictures.  For now, here’s a brief overview of what we did and how it effects you, dear readers.

First and foremost, for a lot of you, we disabled Disqus comments.  It wasn’t working correctly with the WP comments, and there was no way to integrate Disqus commenters into the new social-y features I’m about to describe. If you used a Disqus account to comment, you’ll need to start a new account with Persephone directly to comment anywhere.  (There’s a handy link to the right.)  I’m so sorry for the inconvenience, and know that we handle all of your registration data with the utmost care.

When you’re all signed up, you can take advantage of BuddyPress, which is the niftiest little WordPress plug-in.  It allows you to use your Persephone account to friend each other, to comment in member started forums, to create a profile and to send each other private messages.  Cool, huh?  There’s also a new awards feature which lets us pass out badges and points to awesome people.  You can explore all of this stuff with the Persephone World links to the right, and through the bar floating at the top of the page.

You’ll notice we moved things around a bit.  We did it to make stuff easier to find.  All the shiny on the old theme was pretty, but it was hard to find older posts.  We wrote some pretty good crap in the early days, we want the newbs to be able to locate it.

Poke around, let us know if you find anything that’s ugly or broken, and enjoy all the new stuff! The writers, editors and thankless interns are all more or less up to speed on things, so don’t hesitate to ask us anything.  This post will be stickied until the more detailed post goes up, all the new articles will show up underneath this one as they go live.

Welcome back! We missed you terribly!

If Persephone had offices, they would totally be here.
