Hey Persephoneers, how’s your Monday? I have a confession to make. I don’t drink very often (that’s not the confession part). In fact, I usually drink about twice a year – I have a glass of champagne on New Year’s Eve and every summer I get the urge to have a beer at a barbecue. However, I went to a wedding last night where the atmosphere was convivial and the wine flowed freely. As a result, I have my first hangover in about ten years. (That was the confession part.)
Instead of subjecting you to the meanderings of my wine-sodden mind, I will instead give you a promise that next week we will be back in full swing with “War Stories,” one of the most quotable episodes of the whole series.
To tide you over, I found this YouTube video of the 32 best quotes from Firefly, according to Sci Fi Wire:

I’m surprised the editor cut the bonnet scene right before the best part of Mal’s line: “How can you say that? How can you shame me in front of new people?“
I spent most of the weekend rewatching Firefly (I was recovering from the flu, dammit!) and I’m kind of shocked that “I’ll be in my bunk” wasn’t mentioned. Also, River’s “My food is problematic” sticks in my head every time, but that could just be me.
That’s the most wonderful thing about Firefly. For every awesome quote you hear, another three pop into your head :)
The “food is problematic” is one of my favourites too. As far as I’m concerned, everything Jayne says that isn’t a grunt is quotable ;)
