Top of the Lunchtime to you today! As Mr. Sally J says, it’s the day of his people. It’s a fun day for sure, what with all the green and the pinching and the beer. It’s a celebration of spring — here in the midwest we may see 70 degrees for the first time in 2011.
So here’s today’s question: If you had the power to create a holiday celebrating a particular culture, country, country’s hero, etc., what would you create? What would the name of the holiday be? What would the traditions be?

I would just remove the genocidal history behind Thanksgiving. Then it would truly be the perfect holiday. But maybe I’m just a glutton.
Not so much a specific DAY but there should be an anniversary of HOMEOWNERSHIP. Because, my friends, today is that day. :)
I get the keys at 6pm.
Otherwise, we need to start celebrating drinking holidays for more cultures! We need a Spanish Coffee Day, a Sake Day, a Wine Day (this may be every day for some people…) and maybe a Martini Day – because NY has its own culture too, right? And really, more martinis need to be consumed, the world would just be a happier place.
Also – Mai Tai Day. :)
Anyway, my Homeownership day will be marked with Dairy Queen and wine in an empty room. Because that’s how the cool kids roll.
(no one expects the Spanish Inquisition!)
I’m down for Sake Day!
International Full of Firthy Goodness Day … which would be every day.
International Buffy the Vampire Slayer Day
International Tumblr Wahn and FRAaaayns Day
International Feminists Day
International Nutella & Cunnilingus Day (as suggested by a tumblr whom I can’t recall the name–SORRY)(
I am enthusiastically voting for International Nutella and Cunnilingus Day.
We need a “like” button just for that alone!
Sanrio Day, DUH. It’s Hello Kitty Day everyday for Mariah Carey, right? How will she dress her twins? *shuddering*
I like this. It would give me an excuse to wear my Chococat hat…
Sno-Cone Friday. It would be the third Friday of every June and every workplace would provide free sno-cones and bouncy castles for children and adults.
