Welcome to the Persephone ESC Countdown. Today, we have Armenia and Austria.
After starting with Albania yesterday, we’ll quickly move on to Armenia’s Emmy and “Boom Boom.” Boom Boom Chucka Chucka ““ let’s not talk about the lyrics.

The second song of today is Austria’s Nadine Beiler with “The Secret is Love.” You will soon learn that “love” is a recurring subject in Eurovision songs ““ maybe also because politics as such are strictly forbidden in the lyrics (we’ll get back to that).

I discovered Eurovision a few years ago when living in Holland. I couldn’t I had never heard of it. It was one of the most bizarre and greatest things I’ve ever seen.
*Couldn’t believe
I find Nadine Beiler’s robotron look incongruous with her Christina Aguilera-style chanteusing. Boom Boom’s terrible but I bet it’s still stuck in my head tomorrow.
Yeah – I also had the feeling that Nadine Beiler was copying a style that didn’t suit her.
And Boom Boom? Well. It’s a typical bad Eurovision song.
