Are You Ready For This Open Thread

If you live in New York, you may have heard today’s featured OT song on commercials for the lottery. It’s called “Are You Ready?” by Fatty Gets A Stylist, a band featuring Australian singer Kate Miller-Heidke. It just makes me happy every time I hear it, and I don’t know about you all, but I can use a little midweek pick-me-up.

Enjoy! And tell me how your week is going in today’s OT!

I saw Kate Miller-Heidke on tour when she was supported Ben Folds and she was awesome. She did an amazing version of a current pop song but totally took the mick and it was supercool but I can’t remember what song. She also did a song of her own about exes adding you on Facebook which was very funny.

I just discovered that one of my colleagues is leaving and the first thing I thought was: if he’s out, it might save my job. Which made me feel bad, because he’s really nice but I’m just terrified that I’ll never find a job again if this one vanishes (which is quite the possibility).

I took a nap yesterday afternoon and I have been pretty much useless ever since. Today I actually managed to watch a bar lecture, and that was it. Hopefully tomorrow I’ll be back in the game. One thing is for sure: I really hate studying for the bar. I am seriously only doing this once.

It’s Pride Week in Toronto starting on Friday :D I’m giving very serious consideration to hitting up some lady-specific events- the Clam Slam (roller derby) and afterparty on June 30th, most likely, and the parade itself on the 3rd with my boyfriend.

I’m trying to put together at least a couple of girls who’d want to go to the derby + dance and it’s so awkward to do on Facebook. Because my mom is on my friends-list, who I’m not out to, but I still want to be my authentic self. Also because I feel horribly earnest trying to arrange plans and getting all hyped up and nobody’s even said yes or no yet. I think I might be setting myself up for disappointment.

Any bi ladies making forays into the non-normative side of their sexual identity? Any tips/stories about that or Pride? Or my social awkwardness?
