Lunchtime Poll

LTP: 8/5

“There’s more to life than being really, really, ridiculously good-looking.” Like being able to use movie quotes to properly express yourself! Today’s LTP: what quotes from movies or TV shows do you use on a regular basis? I tend to quote heavily from Zoolander, with the aforementioned quote and also with, “Listen to your friend Billy Zane. he’s a cool dude,” and the related, “It’s a walk off!” My speech is also peppered with gems like, “He’ll be cryin’ himself to sleep tonight on his huge pillow!” from So I Married an Axe Murderer and “Chaos is what killed the dinosaurs, darling,” from the movie that made the lunchtime poll famous: Heathers. How about you? Do you find movie quotes make up a significant part of your daily conversations?

From Waiting for Guffman: “I hate you, and your ass face!” or “You know what you are? You’re bastard people! And you know what I’m gonna do? I’m gonna go home and… and bite my pillow!”

From Uncorked: “Manganese. MANGANESE! Even the WORD is ludicrous!”

From The Royal Tenenbaums: “Why would a review make the point of saying someone’s NOT a genius? Do you especially think I’m not a genius? …You didn’t even have to think about it, did you?” or “You’re true blue, Ethel.”

I quote Mean Girls a lot, usually “Stop trying to make ‘fetch’ happen!” or “You go Glen Coco!” . But The Princess Bride is definitely the one that has invades my conversations the most. “Inconceivable!” is always funny. That Thing You Do is one of my family’s favorite movies, so finding an excuse to say “The Oh-need-ers” or “Cap’n Geech and the Shrimp Shack Shooters” counts too.
