The Persephone Lounge is Open for Business

Sure, it’s a little early to open up the lounge, but it’s been a long week, and I suspect some of us could use a little friendly conversation and our favorite beverage. (Tonight, mine’s a chocolate chip milkshake. I have to get up early for work tomorrow.) So, pull up a comfy chair, get settled, and try to take comfort in the fact that the end of the week is almost here.

Good Earth tea and the last crust of the butternut squash jalapeno cheddar quesadilla my dude made for me. MY DUDE MADE DINNER.

For those of you who don’t know this: I have been the cook in our family since our family wasn’t even a family yet, and it pretty much never occurred to my dude that he should contribute to this process in a way that wasn’t takeout. I DO love to cook – it’s one of my favorite things in the world to do – but I stay a lot more clever and creative and invested in the process if it doesn’t HAVE to happen EVERY night.

I’m so proud of him. He adapted the recipe from a Smitten Kitchen one. He was experimental, and even powered through one batch of messed up squash before getting it more to his liking. Now, I have to also give him props because I didn’t actually think I liked squash, but this was tremendously tasty (and not terribly unhealthy either). Holy God. I am just still so impressed. We talked about making this a regular thing he does like, twice a week. YESSSSSSS.

In other news my new job is rad and people there like me.
