As most of you know, we’re always looking for new talent to spice up the joint. We’ll give anyone who wants to write a chance, as always, but we’ve got a few (very) specific needs we’re trying to fill. Want to be part of a really fun team? Read on.
We try to keep Persephone filled with a mix of interesting things, because we know women and women’s issues aren’t monolithic. Our readers are a diverse bunch of ladybrains, and we like our writing staff to reflect the needs and interests of our readership. With that in mind, we’ve noticed a need in several areas, and you could be just the writer to fill one of those needs.
We’re looking for writers who can commit to at least one post every other week (good) or every week (better) in the following areas:
Canadian politics
Canadian pop culture
Hard sciences
Math
European news
International women’s issues
DIY stuff, including crafts, home improvement, and other types of making stuff that wasn’t there before.
If this describes you, or someone you think might be interested, use this handy contact form to tell us all about it. Please put “staff writer” as the subject line, for easy sorting.
We’re not a paying operation (yet) but we do shower our writers with Internet hugs and unicorn giggles. We reach about 250k people per month, and we’re growing all the time. On top of all of this, we have a lot of fun putting our baby together every day, and we’d love to have you along for the ride.

Just to clarify, when you say hard sciences do you mean non-social science or do you mean fields that are usually regarded as the harder of the hard sciences (e.g., physics)?
I mean non-social sciences, we’ve got a bunch of people on the team already that have backgrounds in social science, we only have a handful of writers who work/have experience in the hard sciences. And we already make that handful work really hard. : )
Did y’all realize that’s half a million eyeballs on the site per month? That’s pretty cool.
Give or take one or two – some pirates read Persephone. And three-eyed folk as well. All are welcome.
And Leela from Futurama. I think she’d be into Persphone.
