Sweet Dreams Open Thread

As always, it’s been an exciting day in Persephone-land. We are all off to sleep the sleep of the just. Actually, at least half of us will probably be up till the wee hours playing with all the fun stuff on the Internet, but you know what I mean. If you are up with us playing intertubes, comment away. If sleeping is more your thing, we leave you with this little bit of sweetness to lend you sweet dreams:

Have a great weekend!

Guys, I need help with a major decision.

So, last night I was at a party at a friend’s house, and there was a stripper pole. I did some dancing. And it was SO MUCH FUN.

Some friends are thinking about putting together a group to go to amateur night. So it would be with a group of friends (one of whom is a military guy who is a former bouncer and will act as our personal bouncer for the evening if need be. He was actually giving us a lot of tips with the pole, and said that if he didn’t know that it wasn’t rated to his weight, he would get on to show us.)

There is a part of me that is all SO MUCH FUN and also the possibility of money is kind of nice. Also it would give me an opportunity to make a really fun stripper costume (I am thinking a tear-off miniskirt and tiny vest with some navy-and-pink-pinstripe fabric that I have).

There is another part of me that is like “OMG What if there is someone there you know? You are job-hunting right now… what if there is someone there you know who you have to interview with at a future date. What if it’s significantly more uncomfortable when you’re not surrounded by people you know (and see it all as good fun)?”

Either way, I will probably end up going some night, because I have never been to a strip club before and it’s something that I think would be fun to do at some point.

Does anywhere near you do pole-dancing fitness classes? It would be a way for you to try it out, have some fun, learn more moves and not take the risk of being seen by a future employer (and if there is one at a class, well, they’re doing it too).

Unfortunately, there are no local classes. I checked.

I really want to get my upper body strength back up to what it used to be (I used to be able to do 5 consecutive pull-ups, and it would be awesome to do that again). Right now, based on how much of my body weight I put on my arms at the party and how sore I am two days later, I’m thinking I’m finally at a point where I can try to do ONE pullup. Possibly with a chair under me so I’m not doing my full body weight.
