You Can’t Take Us Anywhere, But You Can Ask Us Anything

Especially perceptive readers may have noticed a few new things in the menu bar, up there underneath the main header. We’re excited to share some new features and doo-dads with you (more are on the horizon!) but we’re breaking them out slowly. Tonight: the new writer directory and Ask Us!

The writer directory is pretty self-evident once you click on it. The page displays all the writers’ avatars and number of articles written. This used to be in the sidebar, but it got really long when we broke 100 writers. For some (heh, working on it!) writers, you can click their name and be taken to a page with all their posts. I haven’t figured out why the blog will do this for some writers and not others.

The Ask Us! feature is a convenient, one-stop place to submit any and all questions to our various advice givers. This includes old standbys like Ask Luci and Frisky Feminist, plus tech help from Jordan and two new features.

New Feature #1: WTF is This, I Don’t Even.

Ask the editing/intern/copyeditor team any real world problem you can think of, we’ll put it to the group and determine the 3-5 best, most practical/hilarious/informative answers to share in a weekly post.

New Feature #2: Deus ex MacIntosh

This advice column will seek to solve problems using only TV as a reference. Let a Very Special Episode solve your worries, just like Hollywood and Madison Avenue intended.

So click on over to the Ask Us! page and let us help you help yourself.

Also, some programming notes. Persephone will be closed this upcoming Monday for Labor Day. Feel free to play in the weekend open thread all day, or go ask us a question.

We will also be dark on 9/12, in honor of the tenth anniversary of 9/11. There will be a special open thread for everyone to share their memories and thoughts that day, but we will not be running the regular schedule.
