Fun Time Open Thread: My Favorite Bands

As much fun as it would be to make you guess my favorite bands with no hints whatsoever, I decided it would be even more fun if I gave you a little information to work with.  For each band, I have given you three song titles to help you along.  Some of them are popular, others not so much.  Good luck and enjoy!

  1. “It Must Be Love,” “Wings of a Dove,” “Baggy Trousers”
  2. “Boys Don’t Cry,” “Charlotte Sometimes,” “Lovecats”
  3. “Radio Free Europe,” What’s the Frequency, Kenneth,” “Everybody Hurts”
  4. “Sexy Sadie,” “Martha My Dear,” “Dear Prudence”
  5. “All Shook Up,” “Hound Dog,” “Suspicious Minds”
  6. “London Calling,” “Rudy Can’t Fail,” “The Guns of Brixton”
  7. “Mr. Tambourine Man,” “All Along the Watchtower,” “Like a Rolling Stone”
  8. “Ask,” “Sheila Take a Bow,” “Girlfriend in a Coma”
  9. “Lupe Brown,” “Whistle for the Choir,” “Flathead”
  10. “The Creature from the Black Leather Lagoon,” “Bikini Girls with Machine Guns,” “All Women Are Bad”
  11. “Liquored Up and Lacquered Down,” “Banana Puddin’,” “Camel Walk”
  12. “Shipping up to Boston,” “Wild Rover,” “The Spicy McHaggis Jig”
  13. “Too Much Too Young,” “Free Nelson Mandela,” “Gangsters”
  14. “Bad Reputation,” “Bales of Cocaine,” “Galaxy 500”

The hardest part about this was deciding when to stop.  Even now, my mind keeps throwing out new names saying “You can’t leave out ______.”  Sadly I must, lest we be here all night. Who is on your list of awesome bands?

I can’t stop myself.  This man has been one of my absolute favorites for as long as I can remember.  Singing us out tonight – the late, the great, Sam Cooke:
