A lot of us are traveling this week. I, for one, am in West Virginia, which is a little surreal. It is fairly different from my super-convenient suburban lifestyle. It got me thinking about other strange and unusual places. Below is a list of fictional places. Can you identify what book, movie or television show they come from?
- Bedrock
- Tortall
- Camden County
- Sunnydale, California
- Castle Rock, Maine
- Lanford, Illinois
- Bedford Falls
- Persephone
- Arlen, Texas
- Danville and the entire tri-state area
- Greater Greensward
- Noland
- Lancre
- New New York

I only know three, so I’m not even going to bother. But I have to work late today (’till 10 at night) so I’m just going to get cozy in this thread.
1. The Flintstones
3. My Name Is Earl
4. Buffy
5. Something by Stephen King?
6. Roseanne
9. King of the Hill
14. Futurama
Lancre: the Discworld series by Terry Pratchett, home of witches, fools, trolls, dwarves, scumble, and Herne the Hunted.
Also, totally off topic, but I need to share this picture and there are no people who are sexually attracted to men in my office right now (SFW) and I’m pretty sure there are some here.
I’ll be in my bunk.
Hey all, this is a little off topic, but a trans* friend of mine is raising money for his top surgery right now and so far hasn’t been able to raise anything. His insurance will cover part, but there are still a lot of out of pocket expenses he currently can’t afford. Even if you can’t donate, would you mind putting the link on your tumblr/personal blog? He’s a really awesome person and needs to get the surgery soon before he graduates and loses access to his college insurance.

1. The Flintstones
3. My Name is Earl
4. Buffy
8. Firefly
10. Phineas and Ferb
14. Doctor Who/Futurama. I only know that because this was once a question on Jeopardy, the constant (and I) both answered Doctor Who, and they said the answer was Futurama. But then she got points back after the commercial because there’s also a New New York in Doctor Who. And the nerds rejoiced.
2. Various Tamora Pierce series, such as The Lioness Quartet, Protector of the Small, The Trickster Duet, Wild Magic…
I, um, read a LOT of Tamora Pierce in middle school and high school….
I don’t know! But it’s Ophelia Payne’s birthday today and I’ve been waiting for the Open Thread to say HAPPY FUCKING BIRTHDAY O.P!!!!!
1.The Flintstones
4. Buffy the Vampire Slayer
