The results are in, and boy are you folks in for a tough vote for the NMTN Championship. Find out who’ll be competing with whom by clicking through…
Both winners took well over 66% of the respective votes in their polls, and it was really never even close.
Best Supporting Badass – Willow defeats Jane Lane
Best Leading Badass – Buffy beats Leslie Knope.
Monday we’ll be running the final poll, which will close on the following Thursday at 11PM, EST. (I’m going to be out of town on Friday.) The final winner will be announced (by the magic of post scheduling) one week from today.
If I were a betting woman, I’d put my money on Buffy.

I love that these two characters are battling it out in the end… but, I’m bothered that we haven’t seen as powerful a female character as these two in the what, like 8 years? since the series ended. Â Some have come close but not close enough. Â These ladies weren’t nearly as one-dimensional as other female characters we see now. Â The writers fleshed them out into people.
I’m happy we have them and it’s possible for teen girls to see old episodes now though (I love technology). Â So they will always be with us. Â But, seriously, if Anya was on this list my decision would have been made is one Second. Â :)
But yeah, after this round of voting, I would like to ask that we set them aside in a special Hall of Fame category and remove them from voting – kinda like how Allure had to set aside Mabelline Mascara because it kept winning (yes, this is my reference, I like makeup, whatever). Â :)
That’s my plan for this and Middlemarch Madness. The top four in each competition from 2011 aren’t going to be eligible again. I like the idea of a hall of fame! We could make them their own page.
I totally think they are both total badassses, don’t get me wrong, but I am kinda down that both of them are BtVS characters. A tad lacking in diversity, no?
Also, I am still in mourning for Donna Noble. Sniffle.
I’m confused how it came down to these two (I know, bc of voting, but you know what I mean). They’re both BAMFs, but the most bad-ass ladies on tv, ever? I don’t see it. (Please don’t hate me.)
I think Buffy the Vampire Slayer is a dumb show.
There. I said it.
I could never get into it. I boycotted at first b/c I loved the movie, and then when I was assured of its awesomeness by pretty much everyone I know, it was too far into the story to make much sense. And I think SMG is a terrible actress.
How can we be friends now? HOW?!
Hold on, I need to unfriend you from all my networks…
Yeah, have to agree. I tried watching it a couple days ago and could not get through the first episode. It was cringe inducing.
I don’t think you can judge the strength of a show from one episode from the first season. The first season hasn’t aged as well as the rest of them, but the show really is fantastic. I’d suggest giving it another try. You can pick up in season 2 and be able to understand the story fairly well.
WHOOO! Finally, the world makes sense again!
I am totally unconflicted about who I will be voting for next week.
Tell me, why Buffy over Willow? I mean, they are both great, but I totally identify with Willow more than Buffy, what’s your argument? Sell me on Buffy. If you can.
WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE? We are fighting.
I should stop voting, everyone I vote for loses…!
In my mind, CJ, Donna Noble and Julia Sugarbaker are THE REAL WINNERS.
hmph.
I really had my money on Clair Huxtable to take it all. :(
Julia Sugarbaker.
This means I have to pick between Buffy and Willow, right? Just slay me now*and get over it.
*I might have had a ‘you so smart!’ thought over this.
Damn you all.
