It’s The Happy Freaking New Year’s Weekend Open Thread

Because I’m not a soulless Scrooge, I’ve given our team of remarkable writers, editors, copy editors and techies a few days off here and there this holiday season. Including tomorrow and Monday, so we can all celebrate New Year’s Eve in style, and hopefully have adventures we can write about in the new year. (And many we can’t write about, winky winky.)

We’ll be back on Tuesday with our regular schedule. Until then, make the most of the open thread and join us in the comments!

i got sick over the christmas weekend…and now i have no voice.  it’s kind of nice, though. sultry, but difficult to get words out.  lulz.  i’m staying in this weekend – i’m a new year’s eve scrooge.  maybe one year i’ll have some kind of uber classy party to go to, though i can’t imagine when/where/why.

I had that a few weeks ago, I started off sounding all sultry, progressed to 5 pack-a-day smoker voice, then had no voice for alomst a week. Once I got it back, I sounded like an adult chat line operator (according to one of my bosses) for another week.

I hope you can avoid the chain smoker and complete lack of voice and make a speedy recovery!

Yay New Year’s! I had resolved to have this huge pile of assignments marked before the beginning of the new year, but, as the deadline gets closer, I’m realizing it may not be doable. I guess this means I will start abandoning my resolutions before New Year’s Eve, which, by the way, is a new personal record. Anybody else itching to make New Year’s resolutions that will take them on a journey of self-improvement, while at the same time feeling wary about setting personal goals that more often than not end in disappointment and frustration? No? Just me, then? Ok.
