Last year, for the first time as an adult, I made a New Year’s resolution; I felt silly doing it, honestly. It always bothered me how people would make a big production about what they resolved to do in the coming year, only to abandon the idea by February. All that aside, I chose a resolution last year because I momentarily forgot who I was and decided to be happy about holiday traditions for reasons that we don’t need to go into here.
My resolution was to hang all of my clothes right-side-out in my closet. For as futile as that may seem to some, I was hanging things inside-out all the time and it was driving me nuts. This year, I’m going to up the ante and resolve to have all my clothes right-side- out, even in the dresser, which is kind of a big deal. So, tell me, dear readers, what resolutions are you making this year? Do you have a strategy for keeping them?

While the only two BIG BIG ones this year are a) move out and b) get engaged, the ones focused on me are c) get into the accelerated BSW program I want and d) get a great full-time job. That’s all I want, 2012, do you hear me?
1. Cool one meal at home each week.
2. Work out at least 3x per week
3. Hold 5 appointments with new clients each week.
1. Write something–anything–every day. I work in sales, and I’m a bit of a workaholic, so it’s easy for me to get absorbed in or overwhelmed by work and make excuses for myself.
2. Comment on at least 1 or 2 things every day. I’m an avid reader of blogs, but I want to engage more with others instead of just lurking all the time.
Stop having unreasonable expectations of myself. And go out more.
It’s not really a New Year’s resolution, since I made it last week, but I have been procrastinating and stressing out about getting a website put together for months, so I have decided to renew my efforts and take up some of the offers of help I’ve received in January. It’s time to make this happen.
That’s a good one :). I know several folks who use the New Year as a good reason to follow through on a project or plan rather than make resolutions; it seems like a great approach. Good luck with your website!
