Are you a choir nerd like me? Does John Rutter remind you of fun times in chamber choir? Did you look forward to Christmas season each year? This is the post for you.
“Christmas Lullaby” by John Rutter – I think I sang this every year from freshman year in high school through graduating from college.
“The Lamb” by John Tavener – I sang soprano and never quite got that one note that went below the altos. Also, this song makes me cry every time.
“Good King Wenceslas” – Whatever. It’s my favorite carol and I ain’t bovvered.
“A Spotless Rose” by Herbert Howell – I secretly want to be a member of The Sixteen. Not so secret anymore!
“O Magnum Mysterium” by Morten Lauridsen – I do believe this is the king of all Christmas choral pagents.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ll be in my shower, annoying my neighbors. Also, if you live in the Detroit area and want to start a chamber choir, let me know, because I miss singing these types of pieces.

So timely. I miss choir so much, and just spent the last 10 minutes belting “O Holy Night” and scaring my poor cat.
“O Magnum Mysterium” is so beautiful. I also love “In dulci jubilo” because bilingual awesomeness, and “Personent Hodie.”
Oooohh, “Personent Hodie” is one of my favorites.
Oh man, I’ve sung all of these! I went to a church with a really really great choir during my Masters and we did these. :-) I love the Tavener !
