Hello, my cheesy friends! These are starting to get a lot tougher, huh? I see the agonizing you poor souls are going through! But it will only get worse! I’m sorry, that’s the nature of brackets!
Day 3 results:
Gorgonzola 65% v. Colby 35%
Gruyère 93% v. Époisses 7%
Gouda 69% v. Provolone 31%
Feta 72% v. Mascarpone 28%
As you can see, the contests weren’t actually too close; however, the comments suggested DEEP CONFLICT. Well, today’s gonna be similar, I’m afraid. Some are underrated, some are underexplored, some are popular but not necessarily convincing on their own… Have at it, Persephoneers! State your cases! Choose your cheese!
Poll closes at 6:30 p.m. EST.

Also I am sad and happy that there are so many cheeses I have yet to try.
OMG! There’s some sort of cheese contest going on and I was not notified??? Blasphemy.  How do I subscribe to all cheese related posts?
I will figure out how to be an active user soon and stop asking so many questions…
Manchego and me were love at first bite. There is no other cheese I can eat so much of all by its lonesome. So hungry right now.
WHAT. We’ve been voting on cheese all week?! Gah, why did I have to be overwhelmed this week at work? Cheese is my life.
Oh well–you missed most of Round 1, but we’ll be continuing in the Sweet Sixteen next week! Take a look at the other days to see which cheeses were up and which won.
If you ever get the opportunity, try stracchino (also known as crescenza). Â It’s heaven on crusty Italian bread.
Not sure I’ve ever had it–thanks for the tip!
I’m lad today was easier than yesterday for me, but now it begs me to question: what soft goat cheese goes best with red onion marmalade? Anyone have any suggestions?
Any decent chevre should be lovely–if you have access to a wide selection and are in/near greater New England, see if you can find Rawson Brook Farm’s Monterey Chevre.
Thanks! I’ll keep an eye out for it. :)
Ah, we’re getting into hardcore cheesers territory now. I have to admit that I did a blind pick on the first one because I know neither of them.
