Geez, these were tough. Ginny vs. Luna? I chose Luna but only because Ginny got Harry and Luna . . well, she’s Luna.
Brienne vs. Daenerys was tough, too. I went with Daenerys because, you know, she has dragons but I love Brienne.
Beatrice vs. Irene?
The woman who keeps Benedick in his place or the woman who bested Sherlock Holmes?
Are you TRYING to break my heart here?
Beatrice – forever and always.
“Against my will, I am sent to bid you come in to dinner” Â One of my fave lines.
Irene and Beatrice was hard for me. Very very hard. In the end, I went with Beatrice, because I believe she could best Sherlock just as well as Irene, but instead of smiling mysteriously at him, Beatrice would have had a pithy response, in iambic pentameter, to throw in his face. I’ll take sassy over classy any day.
I like this reasoning!
Agh I voted against Brienne and now I have after-voting regret!! I’m sorry Brienne!
*snicker*
I laughed at the last bit because that face is fucking terrifying!
It’s the sparkles. Never trust someone who sparkles.
Only as long as Freddie Mercury gets a pass.
oh that goes without saying
Why are we putting ourselves through this!?! SOB.
Why, reply, why?? Why did you go to the wrong place!
*dramatic pose*
I feel like I don’t have a ton to contribute today. I don’t like Harry Potter and I haven’t read Game of Thrones. Still go Laura and Irene!
I haven’t read the last book yet, but Brienne is much much much than Daenerys. Another easy round, I’m so confused.
We are going to fight!
It still broke my heart to have to vote against Brienne.
I want more of her earlier fierceness and a bit less stubborn Wah-Wah-ness from her, that’s all. I mean ..she’s still got dragons.
Yeah…GRRM isn’t really the best at writing teenaged girls.
I mean, she is definitely going places, but sometimes there could be a bit more of ..balance in her thinking ;)
Team Brienne!
Is it just me, or are the choices much harder this year? :0
they are harder this year. LE SIGH.
Way rougher matchups.
BEATRICE Forever!
I love Irene, yo, but Beatrice!
Yes! Official Beatrice Appreciation Life, right over here!
Absolutely!
Beatrice! Â The only option.
All of the rounds so far have been really easy for me (Luna vs. Ginny is not even a question. Team Lovegood).
But I’m dreading the more narrowed-down brackets, because I know there are some choices I don’t want to make.
TEAM LOVEGOOD!
LOVEGOOD! LOVEGOOD!
Seriously, though. Love her.
Brienne versus Daenerys?
NOOOOOOOOOO
*sobs*
Yeah, that was the only difficult one for me today. And SO difficult!
I can’t even decide between Laura and Ramona. I just can’t. :( So, I didn’t. I throw up my hands in defeat.
(I go by Ramona St. every day on the bus even! I still can’t decide! I used to play Pioneers as a kid and fought for, and always won, the role of Laura. Even then! Gah!)
This is easy. Â Laura defeated death DAILY. Â Her doll? Â Was a freaking CORNCOB. Â And she felt lucky to play with the bladder of a PIG. Â And if you’ve never seen it, Psyched on the Prairie has recapped the first five Little House books to prove that they’re a tale of child and spousal abuse and death defying feats of pioneerism.
Ramona Quimby. Â It is to laugh. Â I bet she couldn’t lead 13 kids home for 2 miles in a deathly blizzard.
The life experiences of each character is different, sure but Ramona – she and I were very similar. I could relate in real life to Ramona. Laura’s life was my fantasy life.
Also, her relation to Portland made me feel like my city was special.
Yes, YES! Laura was dragged around the wilderness by her parents, witnessed her big sister almost die and go blind, was bullied by mega rich bitch Nelly, and handled it like a champ.
And it was all TRUE!
I couldn’t choose. Both were such an important and memorable part of my childhood (both in book and television form – who else remembers Sarah Polley as Ramona?). Luna vs Ginny I can do, but I’ll be damned if you make me choose between Ramona and Laura!
I’m just saying, it’s called Ramona Forever.
FOR-EV-ER.
Ginny vs Luna?!?
Brutal.
This was actually an incredibly easy one for me, but that’s because I never felt like Ginny’s character was very well-developed. And Luna was the shit. She and Harry should have gotten together instead. :(
I’m more a fan of the Luna/Neville relationship. You get the sense he’d really appreciate her awesomeness in a way Harry wouldn’t. “Yeah, you’re pretty great — but, you know, I defeated the Dark Lord, so …” *clicks tongue while pointing gun-fingers*
Yeah, as far as long term Neville is definitely a better pick. Though I think a shorter term thing with Luna could be healing for Harry, He’s too. . . well, Harry. While the short term might make him slightly less self-involved, it wouldn’t be enough to allow for a healthy relationship.
Then again, while he and grown up ginny are a decent/good personality match, I have my concerns about how healthy their relationship could be, especially at the beginning of it. I think they both needed to experience being mundane witches and wizards on their own before shacking up, but it seems like everyone in HP marries young sooooo. . .
Harry is indeed kind of a ponce.
I always thought the Ginny/Harry thing was kind of disturbing, since he basically unintentionally imprinted on her at a pretty young age…
While, in the end, I had to go with Luna, I have to say that I really identified with Ginny.
I went with Luna because I felt like she had it harder than Ginny. Yes, Ginny was possessed blah blah we read the books. But Ginny had her brothers, Harry, Hermione, and everyone else. Luna, even within the circle of friends, always seemed like she was being pitied and just allowed to hang around them. Even though I think she was one of their biggest supporters and they could have learned a lot from her. So, Luna! for today!
I actually do love Ginny, but Luna just has zero fucks to give. Oh, some asshole kids stole my shoes? Imma go wander into the woods barefoot to chill out with some thestrels, NBD. Bad. Ass.
