I SCREAM, YOU SCREAM, WE ALL SCREAM FOR ICE CREAM! Round 1, Day 1

Greetings, Persephoneers! It is hot! I am underemployed! Let’s talk dairy products!!

For anyone who missed it, the introduction for this bracket was posted last Friday. Today we’ll begin Round 1, featuring the top and bottom creams in each quarter:
Chocolate v. Sweet Cream! The standard indulgence, or the blank slate?
Vanilla (bean) v. Coconut! The world’s most popular flavor, or the acquired taste?
Mint Chocolate Chip v. Red Bean! The original “exciting” flavor, or the cross-cultural upstart?
Strawberry v. Rum Raisin! The standard-bearer of fruity creams, or the custard with a kick?

State your cases! Marshall your forces! Find your allies and target your enemies!
LET THE GAMES BEGIN!

Voting is open until 5:30 p.m. EDT Tuesday.

Oooh, speaking of ice cream- have any Floridians tried the new Publix Organic Ice Cream? It was so good! And cheap! And organic!

Note to Northerners: I feel bad for you guys, because Publix is the bomb.

Real vanilla is not boring! It’s the world’s most popular flavor for a reason :) And French Vanilla is just weird. I think they were trying to recreate the egg-custard aspect of so-called French-style ice cream, but the result is not at all appealing.

Hmm… I’m not sure, honestly! I don’t even like it with toppings or anything! I think it has something to do with  how well quality comes through in simplicity. I think the fact that it’s so plain lets me focus on the texture and deliciousness of just cream and sugar.

I’m eating homemade nutella ice cream as I read and vote. There was only one difficult one for me, that was mint v. red bean. I love red bean flavored things, but mint chocolate chip was such a staple in my childhood, I had to go with that.
