You know when you start seeing someone new and everything seems possible? And you start making plans for the future both with them and in your head because all of that oxytocin and dopamine is making you do rash things?
What’s the rashest thing you’ve ever done with a new dating person? Mine might be the time I asked my boyfriend of two weeks to go backpacking for 5 days.

I took a road trip home for Christmas with him. He lived a couple hours north of me and didn’t have a car.
Well, the mister and I were engaged 2 weeks into our relationship, after having only 2 dates with each other. We were married 7 months later. But hey, 10 years and 2 kids later, it’s still good!
Of the non-marrying variety? Hmm… I’d have to think about it.
OXYTOCIN HULK and Oxytocin Batman are here to HULK SMASH / brood about your hormone induced rashness! (Silliness courtesy of the fallout/twitter japery about this article by the inimitable Ed Yong)
<3 Ed Yong SO HARD. SMASH HUG.
When it came time to introduce my significant other to the ‘rents (about a month after we started dating and once we thought it was seriousish), instead of just a normal dinner or dessert evening thing, we traveled to my parent’s cabin in the Canadian Rockies and spent the august long weekend with them. It seemed like a good idea at the time, though he now describes it as one of the more stressful weekends of his life.
My boyfriend of 3 months and I are already discussing moving in together. It’s long distance so it seems much more urgent. Fortunately, we’re not actually doing it, we’re just discussing it.
What I can’t figure out is how much time needs to pass before it become a not-rash decision, because I am getting seriously impatient with all this travel and separation (though there is something annoyingly cheesily romantic about all the longing and missing and giddiness of being together again)
Not so rash if you know it’s right. Mr. Bats and I were engaged 3 months after we met, moved in together six months after we met. It was long distance (200 miles) for the first six months. 12 years later, we are still together and he is the best thing that has ever happened to me. Love him to pieces.
It’s more MrPear’s rash decision. Taking a 36-hour road trip to another province for MY Grandma’s 80th birthday/family reunion three months into dating. Oh Mr.Pear …
That is super sweet.
The rashest thing I’ve ever done with a new dating person: got engaged to him, 3 weeks into the relationship. But then, I started dating Mr. Donovan with the intention of marrying him. At the time, it seemed like it took forever to get him to propose.
