Lunchtime Poll: What’s a PMS?

We’ve reached the time in the week when we ask you to do a little truth or dare.

Truth: What is the craziest thing you’ve eaten when PMSing? I don’t turn into a chocolate fiend or a carb aficionado, but I get the strangest urges to do things like eat a spoonful of powdered sugar.

Dare: Get yourself something you wouldn’t normally. Maybe it’s a candy bar or a new pair of underwear. Whatever. Something small to treat yo’ self.

Tell me all about it in the comments.

My food groups are cheese, bacon, and hot tea. I like studying cities and playing with my cat, Buffy.

Truth: see mustard and chips below/above.

Dare: lucky for me I stopped by the shop on the way home and bought triple creme brie, sav blanc and crackers.   I feel doubly satisfied for having sated my desire for cheese and having successfully completed this challenge!  Challenge accepted!

Coney Dogs and chili cheese fries with the coney chili. Another time it was deep fried ravioli and deep fried mushrooms. I tend to want greasy food. (and you kinda know you are in trouble when the bar serves it on a bead of french fries to absorb some of the grease…)

Also I bought myself a slice of lemon pound cake and some fancy coffee rather than just drinking the work brew this afternoon.

I crave all the things that give me wicked cramps. Chocolate, chips, greasy fast food, coffee … the only time OMFGIMUSTHAVETHEM! is when they want to hurt me.

Umm … I took an extra long lunch to get a Blizzard from DQ to support the Children’s Miracle Network. Does that count for the dare?

Pain killers. My body hates me.

Speaking of, My abscess is back, only now I know why they didn’t approve a root canal or anything beyond antibiotics last time (read: it took a month and a half of antibiotics ending mid June). They were prepping to make the announcement that they will no longer be covering root canals or crowns or any of the procedure you actually need help paying for any more. So I’m trying to find someone to take me to the ER, since if the ER does it they call it medical instead of dental, and I’m at the point where my over t counter meds aren’t doing anything but making me nauseous.

None of the stuff I reach for is particularly crazy, I just get the boring combination of feeling hungry all the time and craving sweet stuff that otherwise has no power over me. I don’t get the urge to buy icecream unless I’m PMSing. And last week, I bought carrot cake, chocolates, vanilla pudding and cookies in one go.

At least I get to come home, tell BF “Hormones made me do it” and feed half the stuff to him.

Definitely going with the chocolate and peanut butter theme here. I often find myself craving a toasted sesame seed bagel with peanut butter (Jiff creamy-style, none of that natural stuff that tastes like real peanuts) and with Hershey’s chocolate chips sprinkled on top. It’s basically the perfect snack – you’ve got your carbs, fat, and sugar all in one bite.

Now I’m thinking about snack foods, and I’m going out of town tomorrow. So, I’ll get a bag of those sweet and sour gummy worms to eat on the plane!

Hmm.. chocolate chips with salted peanuts or chocolate spread with chocolate sprinkles on chocolate biscuits. I don’t go very weird but just ..eat everything at once, savoury and sweet mixing.

And I’m going to a steampunk event tomorrow night, so maybe I can do the dare there.

I used to get bags of peanut M&Ms and eat them with a bag of Pringles (or other assorted potato chips). Divine! Now it’s mostly a matter of just eating huge portions of anything/everything and still thinking I need to eat afterwards. So, I try to keep the junk food in the house limited to things that are slightly better to eat a whole bag of; nuts, pirate booty, blueberries, etc. Unfortunately, my husband usually goes to the store around this time and buys huge bags o’crap.

I was already planning on doing this dare with a trip to the bookstore this afternoon! I used to get these British tech magazines but stopped getting them because I didn’t have time to read them. Well, I have some time now!
