Sort the Stars: Jeff Bridges and Jeff Daniels

Do you know how I know these two guys are worth sorting? Mr. Sally J was getting tripped up as I was quizzing him. Unlike DeNiro and Pacino, or Ice T and Ice Cube, the Jeffs caused Mr. Sally J to stumble a bit. This is a sure sign that these are stars that need to be sorted.

Jeff Bridges is the older of the two Jeffs. He was born in 1949 in LA, the son of actor Llyod Bridges and younger brother of Beau Bridges. Talk about growing up in the business. You probably know Jeff Bridges from The Big Lebowski, and I will always remember him in Tucker: A Man and His Dream.  He also played in a variety of movies in the seventies and eighties, including TRON and The Fabulous Baker Boys.

Jeff Daniels was born in Athens, Georgia in 1955. You know him from Dumb & Dumber, and possibly Good Night and Good Luck. He’s also been in a bevy of other movies, including Speed, Because of Winne Dixie and 101 Dalmations.

I’m not sure how to tell these two apart, except that the don’t really look that much alike most of the time. They both do comedy, they both do drama. They’re both named Jeff. Think you have them sorted out?

Then try your hand at this Rotten Tomatoes quiz. Let me know how you did!

I always think of Escanaba in da Moonlight* for Daniels and that is how I keep them sorted. Does he sound like he is from Michigan? If yes, then Daniels.

And I only got 2 answers right on the quiz, but to be fair they were the only two I had seen… (Good Night and Good Luck and Big Lebowski)

*A excellent movie that might as well be about my relatives in northern Michigan. Also part of a trilogy of plays which I have managed to see two of.
