ICE CREAM FINAL FOUR! Day 1

Here we are, getting down to the wire!

The Elite Eight rounded off with quite an exciting (for me, watching the results come in) race between Vanilla and Rocky Road. Despite RR’s commanding early lead, Vanilla surged back overnight for a very solid win.
Yesterday’s results:
Vanilla 58% v. Rocky Road 42%
Mint Chocolate Chip 75% v. Raspberry/Black Raspberry 25%

Final Four, Game 1
Moose Tracks v. Mint Chocolate Chip

Well. You could go for what is essentially indiscriminate-quality ice cream distinguished by candy toppings. Alternately, you could opt for the best ice cream ever invented. Think about it. No pressure.
[Author note: PRESSURE. LOTS OF PRESSURE. YOU ARE GETTING VERY HUNGRY. YOUR HUNGER IS FOR MINT CHOCOLATE CHIP ICE CREAM. YOU ARE HAVING VISUAL AND GUSTATORY HALLUCINATIONS OF BREYERS MCC. GIVE IN. GIVE IN. GIVE IN.]

You have 23.5 hours to state your case and cast your vote!

But vanilla is great! The real good kind with the little beany flecks are great just on their own. But then vanilla is the perfect canvass for whatever you want! Butterscotch, hot fudge, strawberries, sprinkles, candy, whatever! You can put literally any topping on it. Not so with other ice creams.

While I gave a resounding “FUCK YEAH!”  when I saw what a large margin Mint choc chip won by yesterday, I almost had to abstain from this vote because I love both of these ice creams SO. MUCH.

In the end, I had to go with MCC. It was because that pure, unadulterate, homemade MCC has no comparison. It is all that is good and right with the world on a hot day. And while moose tracks has gotten me through a lot of period-related badness, breakups, and bad days at work, I cannot pass up an opportunity for mint ice cream. pretty much ever.

I’m sorry, MooseTracks. I love you still. I just love MCC more…

That’s a *great* match-up, I think–if it’s only easy choices, bah, brackets are not supposed to be perfectly pleasant! With most of my non-mint faves out of the running early, I haven’t had many real conundrums; but when it’s time to pick an ice cream at the store, unless I’ve got a particular craving, I’ve got to take it seriously ;)

SUCCESS!!!

I feel so effective!
You *should* have Moose Tracks at some point, because really, why wouldn’t you want to taste a new ice cream? But have it when you want something candy-esque, or you’ll be overpowered by the sheer sugariness of it–and I say this as someone who considers sugar second only to water in necessary comestibles.
