Lunchtime Poll

Lunchtime Poll: Fall TV

The Fall TV season has started, although it’s not kicking into high gear until the week after next.

What new shows are you planning on watching, what are you planning on skipping, and why?

I’m watching Go On, because I have a decade-old crush on Matthew Perry, Revolution, because J.J. Abrams, and 666 Park Avenue, because Terry O’Quinn is playing Satan.

Grimm is losing me a bit this year.  First, the weird newBuffy-ripoff opening (which has thankfully been changed!) and then that episode where they tried to make an entertaining evening out of gang rape.  I loved it last year so I’m still watching but . . .

(Also, can we PLEASE get rid of Juliette???)

I was kinda squicked by the gang rape thing too. It wasn’t the worst that it could have been, but not really anything like what you would call good either. But I sorta like Juliette. She has a remarkable amount of life of her own for being a secondary cast character and mainly functioning as the main character’s girlfriend.

Oh man, I wasn’t even thinking about any episode in particular, but yes, that rescuing-a-girl-from-gang-rape story line was horrible. Why do so many of these kinds of shows feel the need to have their male protagonists rescue girls/women from the threat of rape? I hate it every time. Which, unfortunately, is a lot of times.

I don’t mind Juliette, but I like Hank, Monroe, and Rosalee better.

And that new intro, “There once was a man who lived a life so strange…”? AWFUL. I actually yelled at my TV.
