Lunchtime Poll

Lunchtime Poll: Time Alone

Imagine, if you will, that I am a magic genie. I’m granting you one wish.

You get three hours to spend all by yourself, with no obligations or distractions. What do you do with it?

I’d read a great book, while eating a bagel with peanut butter on it, and listening to the Beastie Boys really loud.

I live alone (well, with four cats), work alone (dog walker), and most of my close friends/family are a 20-30 minute train ride away so I have alone time pretty much all the time. I spend a lot of time napping and dicking around online. My productivity level is basically non existent at certain points in the day.

I live alone and get time alone almost every day. But if by “no distractions” you mean “all of your electronic gadgets have mysteriously stopped working” then I’d have to say I’d probably read, lay on the floor with my dog, and maybe work on a few art-type projects. Gah, I should really do all of those things more often.

Oh geez, the mind boggles at the thought. (Although to be brutally honest, I’m ready to cry at the thought of even one hour all by myself)

Three hours, no distractions?I don’t even know. Music. Meditation. Magic. Masturbation. (Hey, I could totally do all four at the same time! Talk about using my time efficiently …)

Oh dear god I wish this was real. Between living with my mother-in-law, my husband working from home, and having a 3-year-old, I get almost NO alone time. If I was feeling motivated I’d go to the mall, and just enjoy browsing by myself, otherwise I’d watch crappy TV, paint my nails, and read.

Edit to add: The trip to the mall would include hitting the gelato stand. Mmmm.
