Flashback Open Thread: Music Edition

Are you familiar with Song Pop? It’s a nifty little app that allows you to play a game of Name that Tune with a friend.

It’s fun, it’s addicting, and it makes me laugh. I’ve played a bunch, and have unlocked songs from the ’60s, ’70s, ’80s, ’90s and today.  Which leads me to my next question: what’s your favorite decade for music? I have some favorites from the ’80s, but the ’90s is where it’s at for me.

How about you? Has your week gotten off to a good start? Tell us all about it!

I’m making an omelette. What happened to the Omnomlette column? I’ve been in such an egg mood. This one has has capers, mushrooms, sour cream and I’m tempted to put a little lox on top. Last night was seafood burger chopped up, mushrooms (I love them), avocado and cheese. The one before that was perfection with just cheese, shrooms and a little S&P. So good. Obsessed. Oh and a little red wine.

So what’d you have for dinner?

(Oh and 90’s. Pretty solidly.)

I discovered Spotify last week and LOVE it — my music library is a bit limited, so the endless library available is amazing. I’ve been lurking around with Aimee Mann and Tori Amos and Fiona Apple.

Otherwise? Stressed and anxious about job hunting, moreso about lack of money (and rent being due in a few weeks)…I realized today that dry raisin bran isn’t terrible. (I don’t have any milk or the money to spare for milk.)

Also, I cut my hair this evening. It was bothering me and at a weird length, and I think I like having shorter hair. Maybe. I might let it grow out to waist-length again. I don’t know.

I haven’t tried Spotify yet but I probably should. I took a bunch of cds to my job and ripped them to my HD but I’m getting a bit sick of them now.

I discovered with my itty bitty short hair that I get carded all the time. I stopped getting carded regularly about 5 years ago? Mid to late 20s? So to get carded all the time at 31 is a bit of a bonus. Guess there are some perks? That and the incredibly short wash/dry time. I hope you discover some plusses until it grows out!

Well, it’s first morning with the new short hair (again — I tend to go from longish to short, then grow it out, then cut it short again every year or two). Not too bad.
And I guess I have a “young” face; I’ve always looked a bit younger than I am, and with longer hair (in a good, snug ponytail) at my last temp job, the students thought I was much closer to their ages. And had someone ask if I was registered to vote “at my dorm address”. I can deal with getting carded at 28.
