Stores are getting so sneaky these days. My grocery had the Halloween candy out (and discounted!) weeks ago. And of course it seems like a fabulous idea to buy it early. It’s cheaper now than it will be right before the holiday! If I buy it now, I won’t have to worry about forgetting to buy it later and the good stuff won’t be all gone! I’m sure I won’t finish it off long before the trick-or-treaters arrive and have to frantically replace it after the prices have gone back up, right?
Wrong. Does anybody actually manage to save the candy they buy early? I damn sure don’t, so I’m waiting to buy it this year. What about you? Do you polish off all the candy early and buy more, wait to buy it at the last minute, or hide from the trick-or-treaters and just buy it for yourself when it goes on sale the day after Halloween? And what’s your favorite kind?

I ended up getting candy early this year for work related reasons. But don’t worry, what ended being left over could fit in a large bowl and it’s already gone. :)
This year I want Take5’s and Starbursts.
We got our halloween candy early this year, and my man put them up on our very high cabinets where we both forget about it and can’t easily access. Works pretty well. Though now I’ve remembered it’s there…
Halloween candy is the best! I am going to poke at Fella to pick up some good stuff (like chocolatey yums) for our “handing out candy at his house” event (i.e., find a movie to watch, get up to give kids candy if they show, otherwise CHOCOLATE!!!).
And, yes, I’m a “various types of chocolate” girl. And for Halloween, candy corn. (Just like Christmas = candy canes and chocolate-covered cherries and Easter = jellybeans and one package of peeps, one of which will be eaten and the rest will microwave-duel).
Yes! Candycorn, though actually I’ve switched over to those mallow pumpkins that are like candy corn but better. Love that stuff, once a year no more.
I have been known to buy candy corn AND the little pumpkins. And eat them all.
And then brush my teeth a billion times, because sugar.
Also, unrelated: I had twice as much coffee as usual this morning and still managed to fall asleep on the train. My schedule sucks.
November 1 discount candy is the best. M&Ms and Reese’s cups are the way to go.
