I don’t know about you, but I love a good Netflix marathon. My penchant for cheesy crime dramas is fairly well documented, but, just in case you thought I was exaggerating, this is my top five most watched TV shows on Netflix:
- Quincy, M.E.
- Murdoch Mysteries
- McMillan and Wife
- Murder, She Wrote
- Columbo
There are a few shows I really wish I could find streaming somewhere; Banacek, Love Boat, and Fantasy Island. The last two aren’t crime dramas, but I love them anyway. What are your favorites when you have the opportunity to indulge in your own marathon day?

I’m still working my way through an enormous netflix queue. I finished Doctor Who over the weekend (ALL THE FEELINGS) and started Angel last night.
Otherwise, lots of movies. Lots of horror movies with plenty of non-horror (action/comedy/drama) thrown in. I kind of wish you could organize the queue by genre/other criteria rather than a huge list, but meh.
In other news: job hunting sucks and makes me feel useless, and temp jobs break up unemployment enough so I can pay rent on time some months but not all of them (and probably disqualify me for things like any kind of assistance), AND one of my bras has a broken underwire. WHY CAN’T SOMETHING GOOD HAPPEN.
1. Doctor Who (because obviously)
2. Burn Notice
3. White Collar
4. Lie to Me
5. Nikita
Just started watching: Scandal, Alphas, Alias. I can’t get enough crime/spy dramas and police procedurals. I’m starting to feel like I’ve watched . . . all of them.
I’m trying to get past “Columbo” being called cheesy. :-( I’m going to go huddle in my wrinkled trenchcoat for a while.
(Mostly joking. *lol*)
I recently finished all the available seasons of Bones (through 6), all of Buffy, and all of Veronica Mars. I’ve used Netflix to get caught up on Doctor Who, and I’m currently working on How I Met Your Mother. I keep meaning to watch Firefly, Battlestar Galactica, and Star Trek TNG, but I haven’t yet.
Weirdly, I don’t watch actual movies that often. I guess because it’s easier to spare 25 or 45 minutes than 2 hours.
1. Star Trek. All the Star Trek. currently re-watching Voyager, but I love all the Star Trek.
2. Fringe. Technically this one is only on Amazon Prime, but still.
3. Classic Who
4. MacGyver
5. Stargate SG-1 (MacGyver in Space)

I’ll admit: seeing that gold star almost made me spit Diet Coke out on my new laptop. We need a hilarity warning! Think of the MacBook Pros!
Eep. Argh. Ungh. Needing to share (vent?). Mr. Juniper has been away for a few days and is back tomorrow, but poor hubby, he called this morning with the news that he, a friend, and a good samaritan were assaulted last night. Police are involved and being super, and the guy’s been caught. But dear goodness. Was missing him as it was, am missing him even more so now. It’s also (huzzah for selfish moment) not quite the respite I was envisaging.
And Friends. Almost always Friends, if I have the chance for a TV marathon. Which will probably be happening tonight. Along with chocolate. Lots of chocolate.
Eugh. That’s awful. It’s good that the police were good and the attacker’s been caught, but it’s still not news anyone wants. My sympathies.
I’m cold at work and I forgot my fruit snacks. Woe is me.
I can’t get Netflix in South Korea and that hurts me to no end, but I’ve streamed Buffy and Veronica Mars before.
One of the things I’m looking forward to when I get home is getting a new Netflix account.
I love to watch Firefly, Lord of the Rings, and Star Wars (only the original 3) all at once per title.
1. Supernatural (first time watching!)
2. Firefly (comfort food for my soul!)
3. Star Trek – all of them but mainly a DS9 run-through right now
4. Various cartoons & anime
Watching Clue right now! Haven’t seen this since I was little but loved it then! Tim Curry is like a baby.
Yay Supernatural! How do you like it? How far along are you? And most importantly: Sam or Dean?
Does one have to choose? But if it came down to it probably Sam. And I’m stealing your gif. Which would YOU choose?
I’m primarily a Sam girl, although it’s more like 51% Sam/49% Dean.
Current binges:
1. Rewatching Torchwood
2. Rewatching Doctor Who
3. Battlestar Gallactica (I’m only midway through Season 3 right now)
4. MI-5 (I think I’m on season 4? I can’t remember now.)
5. Prime Suspect (I only have the last installment to watch now.)
…. Soooo… it’s very British.
I have just discovered Law and Order UK and I am in loooove. The only thing better than a cheesy crime drama is a British crime drama.
There’s a Law & Order: UK!?! Oh I am so finding and watching that tonight!
There is! And it has Freema Agyemen (sic?) in it! And an incredibly hot male lead prosecuter!
I loooooooovve me some cheesy british crime dramas.
Right now on Netflix I’m rewatching Blacks Books and the IT Crowd with the bf since he’s never seen either (?!?!?!) and also BSG because I’ve never seen that.
Yay Netflix!!
AH! I love Black Books! I can’t wait to start on what I can only imagine is the only Law & Order I’ve never seen! :D
I watched the first 7 seasons of Supernatural by marathoning them on Netflix. It took me a while (there’s only so much angst you can take) but I have no regrets.
I’ve recently started Dr Who (just got to David Tennant’s first appearance!) and am stuck at the beginning of season 3 of Lost. Before that, it was Toddlers and Tiaras and Kitchen Nightmares.
OT: I’m so insanely stressed about money and I hate it. Also I hate when people edit my writing and TAKE OUT Oxford commas. It makes no sense now! Long story short, I hate everything today.
I just watched the Supernatural season 5 finale last night. Seriously, all the feelings.
Ughhhhh. I was sobbing all the way through that finale (like most SPN finales). Chuck’s narration was just…ugh…so perfect.
Also I’m pretty sure the opening cords of ‘Carry On My Wayward Son’ now induce panic in me solely because of the Supernatural finales.
The last two episodes of season 5 were just exceptionally well done and yes, Chuck’s narration really just brought it all together.
OMG DAVID TENNANT YES. I hope he makes your whole world better. He can do that.
My top five right now are (in no particular order):
1. Buffy (never watched the whole show before, so I’m working my way through it)
2. Eureka (same as Buffy–no spoilers, please!)
3. Andrew Zimmern: Bizarre Foods
4. IT Crowd (I could watch this show on repeat.)
5. Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations
McMillian and Wife! Wow, that’s almost as bad as my recently watched queue.
1. Law & Order: SVU
2. Law & Order: CI
3. Bob’s Burgers
4. Spongebob
5. Any kind of cooking competition, particularly Top Chef
I tend to pick shows I haven’t seen yet or haven’t seen in a long time. Recently I did a Psych marathon to fully catch up on it. Before that I rewatched Buffy. Otherwise I’m all about the cheesy cheesy movies. Decoy Bride, I’m looking at you.
I’m basically going to watch that because David Tennant is in it.
Seconded! DT is he only reason why I’ll be watching that one.
I watched it because DT was in it and it turned out much better than I expected. A little cheesy, but not bad at all.
To be fair, it is an adorable movie and not as cheesy as most RomComs.
