Quotes for the New Year

This past year went by in a blur, as they all do the older I get. While I do wish time would slow down, I’m looking forward to seeing what will happen next year, both at work and personally. I’m going to take this opportunity to share some quotes that I hope will serve me – and maybe some of you – well in 2013.

“And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.” ““ Anais Nin

This year, no other quote has resonated with me as much as this one has, and I know it’ll stick with me next year as well. I have plans, and I can’t wait to implement them, but I’m just not quite there yet – partly because I’m afraid, but also because I don’t think it’s quite time for me to leave where I am right now. I may not be ready to stop being a bud just yet, but I definitely feel the yearning that this quote so aptly describes.

“Light tomorrow with today.” ““ Elizabeth Barrett Browning

This reminds me that what I do right now will not only affect me tomorrow, but in the days to follow. Not every day is going to be perfect, but if I do something good in the present, it should pay off in the future.

“Vision is the art of seeing things invisible.” ““ Jonathan Swift

I am in awe of people who can turn nothing into something, and they usually do it in a way that makes it look easy. I’m going to really start taking this to heart, and take strides towards creating something impactful.

“I’d rather regret the things I’ve done than regret the things I haven’t done.” ““ Lucille Ball

I have never been one of those people who cry, “I live with no regrets!” I definitely do have some, but this will help make them a little easier to swallow. If I’m going to regret something, at least I know that I went out and took a chance, and that’s much better than regretting doing nothing at all.

Yay for inspirational quotes that don’t make you gag! Please share your favorites in the comments section below, and we’ll turn this into a quote party. Since this is my last post until January, I want to wish everyone a wonderful rest of the year. See you in 2013!
