Good Monday, Persephoneers! It’s January, and I have started to dream of spring, short sleeves and sandals. I know, I’ve got weeks to go. Here’s today’s poll – do you bundle up, putting on layer upon layer, or do you just turn up your heat? No matter what I do, our thermostat doesn’t seem to like going much above 70ºF at any point in time. As a result, I then to layer it on – thick socks, zip-up hoodie over whatever I’m wearing, topped with a blanket. Brr.

Lunchtime Poll for 1/6/13: Bundle Up or Crank it Up?

A little bit of both. The heat is usually a little under 70 and then we also have throw blankets all of the place for extra snuggling.
We have storage heating (MOST INFURIATING INDOOR HEATING SYSTEM EVER INVENTED) so it’s jumpers and blankets for us.
I don’t even know what storage heating is…how does it work?
Heat is included in my rent, so I’m not opposed to cranking it up. But then I think of my carbon footprint and I turn it down. I do love getting cozy under blankets, though.
I do both, because I’m a wasteful hedonist.
I’d much prefer to crank the thermostat, but since I live with a bunch of cold-blooded ingrates, I usually have to bundle up a little bit.
I bundle. I’m well-drilled into always bundle before cranking.
I’m very warm-natured (and have two cold-natured roommates), so I have been way too warm in my apartment this winter. Because they turn up the thermostat rather than putting on a sweater and squishy socks, so I’m in a tank top and barefoot.
My general habit is to check the thermostat first, keep it as close to 70 as possible, and add clothes as needed. Also blankets.
Bundle up. The rest of the house will be comfortable, but my room will be cold for some reason.
Unrelated, I got an interview for grad school at every school I applied to! 3/3! :D
YAY!! Snoopy Happy Dance!
I usually just bundle up, although we keep the temp around 65-70.
In an unrelated note, the mister is home sick, and I really wish I could be home to take care of him. I’ve never seen him as sick as he was when I left the house. :(
Bundle up. Especially when heating oil is $4.07/gal. It’s amazing that in July, 65 degrees feels comfortable in the house but in January it’s almost torture.
oh actually purchasing the oil would change my tune, I’m sure. And I’ve always wondered that- 65 most of the time feels pretty good- unless it’s in my house in the winter!!
