Thursday already, again?
Come on in, grab a comfy seat, and tell us about your week. I’m especially interested in delicious things you ate, amazing feats you accomplished, and vivid descriptions of places that are not freezing cold and full of snow and cranky people.
How’s the week been treating you?

Yes, Suits is back! And if this stream will be good, I can watch it in ten minutes, yay!
Yesterday I made cilantro pesto with a bunch of cilantro I got from my CSA. It was so. good. The day before that I made minestrone from scratch. I think it needed some more spice to it, but it was a warm and delicious end to a snow day.
Delicious things: chicken with awesome garlic, smoked paprika and tomato sauce. It was wonderful and delicious and the first time I’ve enjoyed cooking for several days as – and it seems we’re not the only ones – we’ve had illness in the house. Poor Juniper Junior has had yet another horrible cough that kept him off school for three days. And the darling has shared this cough, too.
Otherwise, the week is having its moments, for sure. Primarily, very few moments for myself beyond finding a few minutes to read P-mag inbetween doing Important Internet Things. Boo.
But hey, it’s Friday! Fingers crossed we can have a quiet, lovely weekend!
Today and yesterday have both had batshit weather. Yesterday was a snow day, but for some reason it was decided that buses would run today – only to have the RCMP issue a travel ban and all the kids were sent home at 1pm. Parents were PISSED. Teachers were SUPER PISSED.
In any case, I don’t think anyone was hurt (fingers crossed) getting home and we’re safe and warm.
On another note, I bought some Etsy stuff from (I think it was) Sheena and haven’t seen any sign of it in the mail – Sheena, are you around? I could really use that knitting bag :)
I has internet again! I am very happy about this.
On a frustrating note, my school hasn’t processed my FAFSA yet (I didn’t file it sooner, cause stress and shit). Classes start on Monday. I’m trying not to freak out about this, since I haven’t spoken to them yet (and plan to call them tomorrow), but we really need me to have some sort of loan money to pay for classes and general life.
Delicious things I ate – while back home in Waco I got burritos from a couple of my favorite Tex-Mex places (and nachos!), a Dr Pepper float from the soda fountain at the DP Museum, a Blizzard, birthday cake my sister made for herself, and pizza and foccacia from my favorite pizza place in town.
Warm weather – it was like 75 degrees there on Friday and part of Saturday! I got to wear a short-sleeved t-shirt in January while hanging out at the zoo and playground.
Amazing feats – I survived a trip to Texas without wanting to strangle anyone. And Lexie behaved on the flights!
Well…mostly I’ve been tending to a sick kid. BUT, uh, CORY BOOKER Rt’d us. That’s going to make me smile for a long time.
We’re getting submissions in for the show I’m producting, it’s almost Groundhog’s Day so winter can’t go on forever, and I made banana muffins this week!
This week has been so crazy. Just way too much to do at work. But today while I was copyediting our pieces for tomorrow, I had a David Attenborough documentary on in the background (and y’all know i love him). It was about oceans and my kitty hopped next to me and gazed at it with fascination.
this is a long way of saying my cat did something cute.
